SMAPxSMAP BISTRO SP… “That One Time Nomo Hideo & Matsu Takako Dined Together and it all Ended with a “Batsu” Kiss!”

Nomo Hideo & Matsu Takako~

The “fuzzy” clip above comes once again from an old VHS of mine and the inspiration for transferring this particular yesteryear Smap x Smap Bistro gem from VHS (hence the video fuzziness)~~> to digital comes two-fold, as with our recent viewing of the drama “Long Vacation” I thought it’d be fun to see one of Matsu Takako’s visits to the Smap Bistro set…. that along with Major League Baseball’s post season now being in full and exciting swing, here’s Japan’s iconic pitcher Nomo Hideo (best known for his mid nineties career with the Los Angeles Dodgers) who was one of the earlier amazing athletes to make their way from Japan all the way to the big leagues with much success!! =)

And just a quick primer here just in case you’re new to SmapxSmap Bistro ^^:

SMAP’s Bistro format follows a dining experience where there’s no set menu to limit guests so they may order as they wish ~* to their heart’s delight =). Nakai-kun acts as host and main personality driving the conversations and overall flow of the show while the remaining four SMAP members are paired up in varying combinations (teams; with the exception of some specials where the guys are matched in single chef vs. chef duos). It is also a long running staple of the show for Shingo-kun to do something amusing when the opposing team’s dish(es) are met with declarations of “oishii!!” by the guest(s) of honor for the evening and much of his hilariously playful antics are usually directed at the special guest like for example if the guest were to be a singer, Shingo-kun may be likely to then appear mid meal actually dressed as them singing one of their popular songs and NO it matters not one bit if the guest just happens to be female! (。ーωー。)笑。

And so after both teams have presented the guest’s meal/dish(es) of choice, the guest(s) of honor must then decide which team’s food they preferred~♥!!…. not always an easy choice by any means and to the winners then goes the spoils of victory which is a customary kiss~♡ upon the cheeks of the winning chefs =). Male guests usually present the winning team/chef with a special present =).

And this most memorable episode in addition to the normal Smap Bistro format is a special, so the guys have a time limit, here it’s just fifteen minutes Wowza (=O!!) to create their dishes for the special guests with very important points being on the line.

Memorable moments include:

• Of course just the presence of pitcher Nomo Hideo is a highlight in itself!
• Kimutaku’s familiarity with Matsu Takako spawns much humor!
• Tsuyoshi’s lack of awareness when it comes to the all essential television camera makes an appearance and an “encore.”
• Shingo~kun’s “Oishii~~~~~~!!~!!” pranks is a double-feature!
• The winning team’s reaction is beyond priceless! I mean it’ll be “pretty” evident just how much the guys wanted to win this one as it was a HUGE honor with Nomo Hideo being present!~!
• The gifts presented by Nomo Hideo are most amazing!!!!! I sooooo wanted one too! =)
• Kisses to the winning team from guest Matsu Takako! ^^
• And in a most rare case, kisses are given to the losing team in a most humorous fashion here…. HOWEVER it is so not how you’d expect! Soo funny!! =P
