While I’m in much need of updating my list of AKB48 member favorites (I’ve also included my just second AKB48♥ member ranking below), dating back to the my love for Momusu, a fun pastime of mine over the years has been to periodically make note of my favorite members with these often painstaking difficult to create lists whether it be for a favorite band or idol group. I really wish I had started making these back in January 1998 when I first purchased their debut single but my earliest list is dated October 25, 2002 and for many years I’d kept updating them until about 2007. I think it’s great to be able to look back on these to see the way it was at various points of their lineup as Momusu’s history has had so many memorable and talented girls over the years move on through the group as idols will always inevitably grow up and move on…. not to mention the occasional “scandal” as a reasoning for an untimely departure.
Aichan’s never been lower than #3 and had been my #1 dating back to 2004 upon Nacchi’s graduation from the group. And as the world of Momusu keeps turning over the years, here are my Momusu member ranking lists throughout those awesome early years!!:

And here’s my second AKB48 member ranking!! (the first one would be like Woh!? =O) LOL please don’t give me too much of a hard time as I was still learning about the group, its members and songs as my fandom was still in its rather infant stages as of the time I made this list =P. I did have a lot of it right though with Yuko, Mayuyu, Miichan, A~amin, Tomochin, Takamina, Yukirin, Myao and Kitarie all ranking in the top tier ^^. But in my defense I had yet to fall in love with Sasshi and of course there’s a post here which documents that day of realizing and falling in love with her personality and general awesomeness!~! =P….

Never was a fan of Momosu, since mostly my idol fandom began with AKB, and I guess before that with Perfume if you consider them idols which I guess I don’t, for the most part. I loved your old ranking… Maeda Ami at number four? NICE. And I see Wasamin got some high marks there too. She looks SOOO different in that pic you have on your ranking!
I skimmed through this and it wasn’t too bad. She’s not exactly for me, but I can see the appreciation an idol lover would have of her. Also, she looks so lonely on that beach…I don’t think it was the person’s intention who was taking pics to make it seem that way, but it just felt kind of like she was out there by herself, waiting to run into somebody. Like you maybe? Or me?

I really had this early obsession about A~amin and I really thought she’d be on the rise for sure, I mean she even had her very own solo wall calendar back then which of course I purchased. And yet A~amin’s really vanished so much over time… couldn’t even find her in the latest “Kimi wa melody” single anywhere not even with any coupling~with song that is until I realized that she only appears on the exclusive video which is included on their theater version which I didn’t get due to the extra cost of shopping for it =/. Her eye-brow charm* point was always so awesome and fun I thought!!! My friend said she even did it during the Anime Expo event he attended during the autograph sessions… gosh she didn’t even rank this past election and now I’m a bit depressed =(!
Aichan made such a splash debuting in “souda! we’re alive” all those years ago not to mention Tsunku was at his very best writing that song as it remains as one oh his most creative to date I think. She’s always been one of my favorites~♥, now all grown up and happily married =D.

A~amin is somebody who I kind of expect to graduate soon. I dunno why, but I feel like maybe she’s run her course with AKB. I think she’s probably trying to find an idea of what’s next for her in life before she does graduate though. I really can see the appeal for her, but yeah, she’s more like a utility girl in AKB, and AKB seems to have lots of utility girl these days, so it’s easy to get lost in the mix, and how hard would it be to have been once a rising star and now the girl who watches other girls in AKB rise to the occasion instead of you? That’s depressing enough for anyone who’s done as much as she has in AKB to call it quits. I hope she doesn’t, and I hope perhaps she’ll rank in this year’s Sousenkyo if she participates, but maybe she will? Maybe she won’t? I can only wonder.

I can’t imagine what it’s been like for her, I mean as you’ve said here…. A~amin was really slated to go for the top tier of idols at one time and she was even chosen to represent AKB48 during their visit to the U.S. when they went to L.A. a few years ago and like now she’s just buried in there somewhere =/. I do hope that she participates, I think I may have even voted for her during my very first election experience… I’d need to go check ^^.

I think she just had her 20th coming of age ceremony and she talked about seeing all her senpais have the experience and now she finally was. I kept thinking…wow, you JUST turned 20? I thought she was much older. So, so young, and so much life ahead of her!!!!!

Haha considering my then most limited exposure to the group, I’m happy that I did have Wasamin ranked at least near to the top =D. I’ll do a new ranking sometime soon as so many of the girls have graduated since my most recent one… my top three are pretty set in stone!
