After an extensive wait, Amuro Namie’s latest single “Red Carpet” at long last hit shelves early last December and while the title track which is a tie-up CM song for Kose cosmetics port OLEO D’OR speaks of an underlying theme of one’s own strong courage , perseverance and overcoming all presented in a soft mid tempo tune with the always masterful vocals of Amuro~chan…. something which even its gorgeous aesthetics won’t readily reveal is a most uniquely amazing feature it holds within. No it’s not the large beautiful first press B2 sized poster photographed just above which btw speaks to the elegance of the title track “Red Carpet” itself in both its melody and presentation. But rather you’ll notice something rather interesting when you load the coupling with DVD!!
You see by selecting the “Customizing Function” which sits in between the original music video and its making of movie….
..you’ll be taken to a second menu where you can actually customize the music video itself! From Amuro Namie’s dress color to her heels to variations of a storefront window display which appears in the video, it’s all up to you to choose from three available options for each listed feature. And you can mix and match them any which way you’d like. For instance for her dress color feature, custom 1 = an olive green, custom 2 = a pinkish red while custom 3 = a light gray while for the window display ….custom 1 = a hat display, custom 2= an umbrella display while custom 3 = a shoes display! Now how cool and fun is that =).
And you can totally mix and match them any way you’d like so you can choose to have Amuro~chan dressed in a pink/red dress coat (custom 2) while having the window shop she browses display hats (custom 1) ..or shoes (custom 3) or umbrellas (custom 2) or change her heels and dress colors just the same way. And so with three characterizations each with three options, there are literally LOTS of mix and match variations you can choose to create the music video’s distinct look =). In the past I’ve come across music videos offering various camera angles but never a dress, window display and color feature such as this! Pretty cool! =)

And while I’m unable to include the interactive music video functions as it’s not encoded as a normal file, here’s the complete original music video for this absolutely gorgeous song all shot with a days of yore atmosphere ^^.
~Amuro Namie “Red Carpet” (-Making Movie-)
The making of video is a bit interesting as it’s not your expected type of clip, but instead it features all new majestically styled graphics and animations which act as a continuous dressing with a distinct nostalgic flavor, for the edited off-shots and making of clips within.
