With the match just completed a few minutes ago, our very own University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Volleyball team has upset the two-time defending champions Penn State in a pretty dominating fashion!!!! The UH Rainbow Wahine were one of just three unseated teams to reach the sweet 16 round which got underway today! Last weekend the UH Rainbow Wahine traveled to Texas to take on TCU in the opening round and after a big scare which they fought through to victory, UH was much more focused in their second round win over Texas A&M.
And now today’s regional round of the sweet sixteen matchup with Penn State was held in Des Moines Iowa where Hawaii brought their (regular season) top ranked “roofing co.” (blocks) to play as they also dominated Penn State in kill percentage recording .389 (54 kills) for the match versus just .228 (42 kills) for Penn State while committing just 10 errors for the entire match, most impressive!~! This also marked the very first time that Hawaii was able to defeat Penn State and may I say again that they were the two-time defending national champions!! The final scores in the UH Rainbow Wahine’s sweep YES sweep of Penn State was 25-22/ 27-25/25-16. And now our UH Rainbow Wahine are off to the elite eight!!!, where they’ll meet Minnesota ….match set for tomorrow 2:20 pm HST. I’m still a bit hyper as this win was so awesome!!!!!!!!
