A few years back the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in Waikiki used to be home to a official Hello! Project store! There was an insert in the “Hawaiian de kiku Morning Musume Single Collection” cd which announced its grand opening. In half-belief I called them that very day to see what time they opened and went down after work the next day. I hadn’t been a frequent visitor to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, well since I was little and used to go there after the movies, so I had to do a bit of searching in that center before I found it. Till this day I still find it amazing that we actually had an actual official Hello! Project store right here in Hawaii, specifically here on the island of Oahu. Just to the left is a t-shirt in really bad lighting =P….that I purchased there on their opening day which was way back in July of 2002 and I also purchased every set of Momusu photos that they released periodically along with some other favorite H!P members/groups photos. Everything in the store had a distinct Hawaiian theme to them so they’re most unique from what you’d find in the H!P shops in Japan although after the closing of this store those photo sets most likely made their way back to the Japan stores I’d imagine. In all I managed to fill up 4 binders with photos from that store alone and while I was able to purchase 3 of the binders from there, they then later stopped selling those specially designed binders so I needed to create my very own “Kamei” binder in order to store the remainder of the Hawaii photos.
Scans of all four photo binders are included at the ending of this post ^^.
Other items that they sold were cups, clear files, posters, key-chains, picture frames, large picture cards, greeting cards, trading card albums and well …..a whole lot of pictures let’s just say!~! The central area of the store provided customers with access to information on H!P (hence the name of the store =P…..) via a few computers and printers while towards the back right hand side wall there was a large window case which housed Momusu concert and single wardrobes all dressed upon plain body-mannequins (these wardrobes would constantly change over the weeks to come). At the very back of the store was one of those head cut-out picture boards (this one Momusu styled of course!) where you can stick your head into one of the holes and take a souvenir photo =). And to top it off every single wall was completely decorated with Hello! Project displays, sadly none of which were for sale though ….still most amazing to look at as much of them were hand autographed items! If you watch Ayaya’s Alo-Hello!, she actually visits this store in Waikiki and signs a few items too while she’s there so it’s a perfect means of getting a close-up look at this most unique H!P store which once stood right here in Hawaii~♥ ^^.
Now before getting to those photo binders we must begin with that very release which included that aforementioned advertisement insert! Remember the one which clued me into knowing about the new H!P store’s opening right here, that being the release “Hawaiian de kiku Morning Musume Single Collection” CD …and while I assure you it’s a wonderful listen as you get to hear all of the early Momusu classics done Hawaiian style ….Yup complete with ukulele~♥, I thought we’d go right ahead into their collaboration DVD single featuring Takagi Boo =)!
And here’s a scan of that very insert:
So get your mindset ready for the summer of 2002 …..but before we get to the joyous part with the PV here’s my most favorite track from the album to give you an idea of what to expect from the CD release/single (pictured above):
~“Manatsu no kousen” (Hawaiian style)~
Here hit play just above… it’s “Manatsu no kousen” rearranged Hawaiian style and it’s such a sweet sounding version of this all time great Momusu single and here it’s being performed by Coconuts Musume, Mikitty, and Ishii Rika (not to be confused with “Charmy” Rikachan).
I really love the cover art for this album so much and the walls of the Hello! Project Information Village had numerous framed images of H!P members in this same art style hung on them. They also sold individual member greeting cards with these Hawaiian designs and I did purchas a Rikachan one (pictured just below)…
So here you have Boo Takagi lending his Hawaiian style and ukulele to a great assortment of Momusu songs from the golden era and the girls let’s just say ….totally take it from there! The pv is a wonderfully flirtatious piece with a wholehearted feeling of fun throughout! Every member featured in this medley release lends their own personal brand of cute and charm ….so much to note of this but I truly think that the pv itself speaks louder than any words could. ^-^ I hope you enjoy this Friday trip down memory lane Hawaiian style as the pv is next and later in this post I’ve also uploaded the “Omake…” segment which is must see streaming video! ^^
~Morning Musume Single Medley~Hawaiian (pv)~
Gotta love the blue screen drive down Waikiki in an open convertible!!
And just a few thoughts inspired by our visuals tonight:
A~h! Konkon have you no shame?! Just kidding! 😛 So cute! And look how young everyone is! ^-^
Gakisan’s old hairstyle here, one which at one point I was beginning to think was a permanent look!
Nono jams the air guitar long before there was Guitar Hero to satiate those strong desires! 😛
Aichan’s got the best pout ….and when tugging at Boo’s shirt doesn’t work, there it is! ♥
Ah Ayaka! …things were so much happier back then when Coconuts Musume actually kind of existed and I always found it odd that she could be listed as the only member of a “group.” back then o__O !
And Kaorin shows that she’s very much the expert when it comes to the “fluttering eye” flirting style!
Meanwhile Mika’s trying to teach Boo the hula but he won’t have any of that! 😛
For much of the ride Gomaki’s just happy to be in the car it seems….
And Aww isn’t Yossi soooo cute here!! I’d say the Hawaiian look looks great on her!
Try to spot the other Rika, she disappeared so quickly =O.
“Literally” flirting all day into the night (or at least the “night” blue screen that is) …in any case Boo can’t be playing the same song all day and night can he?? =O
A young Mikitty in love…♥ =)!
Wow they’ve been driving so long that it’s the next day already?! Well with gas prices being much lower then I guess it’s possible! 😛 The “Omake…” segment’s just ahead …sorry so many screen caps I just couldn’t help myself! =)
Aichan’s expression here says that you must watch the behind the scenes making of footage too, Gakisan’s so little!! 😛
~Morning Musume Single Medley~Hawaiian~ (Omake…)~
And now for those Hello! Project Information Village Hawaiian themed photographs. Here I’ve scanned the entire pages holding the photos as if you’ve ever dealt with these tacky type photo sheets then you surely know of just how difficult it can be to get them properly back in while trying to avoid the dreaded air~bubble =P!
~H!P Information Village (Binder one)~
Now one distinct difference (besides the local Hawaiian theme…) between the standard sized photos you’ll find in official Hello! Project shops in Japan versus the photos which were sold here @ the Hello! Project Information Village is their different sizes. If you own any standard photos from Japan then you readily know that they’re all sized 5 x 3 1/2”, whereas the H!P Information Village photos measure a bit larger at 6 x 4”.
~H!P Information Village (Binder two)~
~H!P Information Village (Binder three)~
The H!P Information Village photo sets also begin to reflect the seasons and holidays of the year ^^.
~H!P Information Village (“Kamei” binder)~
And now we’ve reached the final and largest of the four binders as the “Kamei” binder will take us all the way to the appearance of Berryz Koubou as they’ve finally made their way into the H!P Information Village photo series here ^^.
The Hello! Project Information Village even celebrated “The Man Power!!!” with this clear file, note the pretty flower design in the lower left corner which gives it its Hawaiian~vibe, to the lower right is the official Alo~Hello Hawaiian style logo ^^.
~Have a lovely weekend everyone~!~!~
