C-ute’s anniversary concert which was held on June 11, 2015 @ Yokohama Arena arrived on beautiful Blu-ray & DVD this past September the 9th and to put it lightly ….this 29 song event is soooooo worth every cent it’s asking for!~!
And to further the allure it’s actually a two-disc set which includes a Blu-ray and DVD or two DVDs depending on which version you opt for with the second disc featuring C-ute’s May 9th, Hiroshima performances which runs an additional 38 minutes ^^!!
It’s also notable that the Hiroshima concert was held at a rather intimate locale which is a perfect companion of contrast to the massive size of the Yokohama Arena’s stage, so whether you favor a sizeable venue or a much smaller one you’ll be getting both with this single concert release.
This momentous anniversary concert fittingly opens with an awe inspiring run-down of C-ute’s complete discography to date running in a reversed chronological order showing abbreviated music video clips from their most current all the way to the deeply nostalgic MVs of their very beginnings of their indies single releases!!
Yup! it’s their earliest of pvs up upon the mega-big-screen which literally got me into the mood to go fetch for one of the very first C-ute releases I purchased all of those years ago! Now surely you remember their “Music V Tokushu 1 Cutie Visual” DVD <<~~~~ when C-ute was at full strength with all eight original members =). My most favorite indies song of them all was without question “Ookina ai de motenashite” which I’d play over and over and over and then over again as I went to my happy~place (*´∀｀) うれしー♥♥♥！ Their oh~so~cute pink wardrobes, Mai-mai in oversized shades and OMG the catchiest of melodies all wrapped into one ヽ(。´▽`。)ノ。。！！
In any case do check out the concert’s opening VTR clip above as it serves as a wonderful quick-time memento putting into glorious perspective all that C-ute has accomplished over the years~ …plus it’s pretty cool how just after it counts down to their second indies single “Soku dakishimete” the concert immediately opens with C-ute performing their indies debut single “Massara Blue Jeans” then continuing in chronological order, their entire indies catalog all the way up to their major debut single “Sakura chirari” all coming before the first MC ….a most awesome!! opening six songs which will fill perfectly your nostalgic heart which was just set-up by the aforementioned VTR song countdown ^^. And it’s special too, to hear the girls sing these long ago released songs now as their vocals all around have grown and matured since, plus just seeing this grown-up C-ute perform cutesy songs from their past is joy enough too.
Here after a bit of downsizing and encoding I’ve selected seven performances from my Blu-ray to further entice and feature here =). And just a few thoughts about this concert would include firstly, everyone’s vocal performances here as the girls are really on top of their game with extra honorable mentions going to particularly Chisato and REALLY Airiin who’s simply stellar ~*~~* ^^. Secondly, the notable gigantic venue which is the Yokohama Arena and just how awesome C-ute’s stage is set-up here as it includes a wide runway which runs central to its far reaching oval shaped walkways which gives fans both near and far such a wonderful view of the group from pretty much every seat in the house!! Thirdly the girls’ wardrobe changes throughout the concert are flawless in being adorable, stylish and fun all the while being designed for viable performance movements. note: I’ve kept out the girl’s solo performances as surely I can’t give too much away here right =)! ….however I did include one performance from the accompanying Hiroshima disc as I chose “Forever LOVE” to feature here as it just happens to be a sentimental favorite~♥ of mine and do watch for Mai-mai’s amusing expression as she playfully “perhaps?” mocks all of those ‘my darling’ and ‘I love you…’ back-up lines in the song. It only occurs once just after the middle break but her expression there is priceless and perhaps you can help translate just what she was expressing rather noticeably there (。ーωー。)笑！
Now I did include one surprise ~* song performance as it totally caused me to do some investigating of my own as this particular song seemed vaguely familiar and yet I couldn’t place it at all and now I know why as I was just a few months removed from being a dirty romantic thought Awww …in my father’s pants =P when it came out as the theme song for a movie (haha bet your daughter never described herself quite that way…(^q^)! ). And the movie? “Flashdance” and I must’ve heard “Flashdance…What a Feeling” on the radio or through an 80’s tribute album or somewhere like that as I’m just not sure. In any case it’s a most fun performance of a REALLY REALLY catchy song!!and the girls really get into it!~! ….and do note that there are so many sounds in the English language which don’t exist in Japanese so the girls do really well here as the English lyrics provide many challenges without question. =) I also chose “Ookina ai de motenashite”, “Sakura chirari”, “Sekaiichi happy na onnanoko”, “Massara Blue Jeans” and of course the song (single) I was raving about earlier this year “Tsugi no kado wo magare” ヽ(。´▽`。)ノ。。！！YES it is that AWESOME OF A SONG~♡!!~!!
