~ 「TGIF!」Idol♥’s unzipped on way back Fridays (Volume 81)

Idols unzipped...

Happy Aloha Friday~! =)

So tonight I thought we’d watch some random stuff from memory lane although the forecast does call for at least “some” Kamei ^^. So we’ll have a little bit of sports, a little art, something educational and some music of course. Does that sound random enough? Okay let’s go =)….

~Ribbon “Taiyou ni hi wo tsukete” (live)~

So I’m thinking that some music shows of yesteryear sure had some time constraints as this awesomely nostalgic clip runs just a little over two minutes, I mean they only get in one verse and chorus and that’s it! =O Still this one’s J-Pop gold!! Ribbon was a trio of whirlwind talent with Nagasaku Hiromi, Satoh Aiko and Matsuno Arimi creating a tour de force of vocal talent which saw equality on all levels as each could easily hold their own and appropriately the vocal lines distributed very much in the same manner with none being a central member for that matter. Hiromi, Aiko and Arimi also possess such vastly unique tones and nuances in their voices that identifying each of their solo lines becomes quite the simple affair after learning just a few of their songs over a short period of time and speaking of vocal ability, the trio of Ribbon till this day I believe remains as one of the most talented and impressive.

My Ribbon collection

~H!P Sportsfest 2006  Ft. Kusumi Koharu 100M~

(AKA: The Miracle on Grass…well with Kohachan♥ being dubbed as the Miracle Girl by one Mr. Tsunku himself all those years ago!)

The year was 2006 and the venue….the Saitama Super Arena where H!P’s awesome Sportsfest games were being held in front of a massive showing of fans and if my memory serves me right it was Konkon whom was busy lapping the field during the 1500M run while even the likes of tiny Momo and Airiin whizzed on by Kohanchan. However when it came to the 100M sprint it was Kohachan pulling off quite the surprise upset!~! Okay so Sayu wasn’t very quick and while Coconut’s Musume’s Ayaka put up a good fight it was actually Inaba Atsuko whom was shocked when a super hyper (well actually being super hyper always came second nature for Kohachan didn’t it!~!….our little Red Bull energy drink in human form who could! =) ) …Yup it was a moment to marvel as Kohachan dashed to an unforeseen victory!!!! Inaba Atsuko did get revenge in some form when she left Kohachan in the dust a bit later during the long distance 1500M run however the upset of the 100M had already been planted ^^.

~Kamei vs. Drawing~

If you’ve watched H!M for any length of time back in the day then I’m sure you’re likely aware of Kamei’s “artistic talent.” She can’t draw. She was once held back by herself after the segment was over after being given an artist’s set as a gift for being the worst in hopes of her getting better but it hasn’t helped as we see on this particular day. And even considering today’s fun and interactive situation her drawings are simply odd…..as in oddly~fantastic ー(* ̄O ̄)ノ! And that’s just another reason that I adore her, as if I needed anything more ^^.

~Kamei vs. Spiderman~

The date was November 28th, 2004 and after that awesomely talented guy who appears to be a cross between Halloween and an art scholar provides the girls with a wonderful bear story, he serves here as both a judge as well as art educator to the girls whose task on this episode is to individually draw a given subject in hopes of having her teammates guess/know what it is exactly in order to win points. Sounds simple right? Like Pictionary with a bit of a different format as each girl’s drawing is completed before their individual revelations. So this little clip begins with Mako-chan’s drawing just so you can see how things should normally turn out and then Kamei was asked to draw Spiderman. Let the adorable hilarity commence ^^. Oh and Gakisan has the MOST hilarious expression on her face the second Kamei’s masterpiece is revealed!!….I mean her expression seems to say something along the lines of …”WT# is that?” =P.

~Kamei Wink~♥~!~

The date was July 11th, 2004 and during Hello! Morning’s opening dialogue during their summertime special, host Marippe asks for an opening pose from each girl and sure there are a lot of cute one’s along the way however no one on this day flirted with the camera quite like our one and only Kamei~♥…..yup I actually just edited out the opening for Kamei’s Wink, I’m wacky like that ^^.

Our favorite English Sensei Thane-san is back for a bit of “hand in cheese.” Yes you read that right, “hand in cheese” =)….thank you Kamei~♥ ^^. This is actually just the first segment out of three as it’s the best by far for this episode and while all of the girls incur a lot of fun and missteps along the way a couple of more honorable mentions must go to Mikitty and Aichan….boy am I glad to know English =)!

Well, this randomness entertained me a lot! I especially loved the English lesson. I could watch segments like that all day! I thought it was very clever of Reina-chan to say ‘People people people’ to mean ‘lots of people’. I may start to speak like that in everyday life. But first I must see what’s in the refreeg.
Was the sports segment from that mega-boxed set of DVDs? Kohachan is built for running, isn’t she. Have you seen any of the AKB sports festival. I’ve only seen clips and still photos. There’s a funny one of Sakura running, which reminded me of Phoebe’s jogging technique in Friends. Sakura is elegant, yes, but only when standing and walking.
Loved the Ribbon song. I’ve yet to add Ribbon to my shelf. They’re on the shopping list, though. I suppose I concentrated on building my CoCo collection first. Incidentally, Masa has a CoCo (double) laser disc in at the moment for the ‘Haru wa Coco kara final’ Budokan Special from 1992. 131 minutes of CoCo! That was really what decided me to look for a player, as I don’t think that concert has been transferred to DVD, has it? He only has the one Ribbon item in at the moment. Earlier in the year someone from the US bought something like 250 CDs and singles in one go, and everything Ribbon-related was included! Masa posted the photo and the order list. Quite a few of the items were on my ‘to buy’ list. Fortunately, they’re gradually trickling back in stock.
Here are a few tear-filled minutes of CoCo from the Budokan concert:

Thank you for your fun post!

    • We do share a lot of love for idols throughout the years don’t we =)!~! Like the legendary Bakajo Test this English episode produced some really fun and hilarious moments and you’re right on how Reina managed to communicate just enough to make that connection but wasn’t it funny how all of the girls inevitably kept on using Japanese within their stories when they weren’t supposed to =P. OMG the refrigerator pronunciation that Kamei was having issues with led to some of the very best reactions in this episode and her phrase of “hand in cheese” will never leave my memory I’m afraid LOL!

Oh no I have just a few of the discs as I have Aichan’s also and Rika~chan’s disc as well along with a few others but I never was going to be able to afford that massive Box Set…now that was scary big!! They even have a mini live at end of the festivities and depending on which member’s disc you purchased….you’d have her camera angle for the entire live event….as well as all of the sports festivities as well of course. Amazing how every girl had their very own camera crew or person attending to them at all times it seems! Funny thing is that Kohachan was incredible in this one sprint event but thereafter she really wasn’t that quick at all and she really struggled during the long distance event…funny because you see little Momo from Berryz Koubou pass her by as well as little Airiin and she fell back really far by the time she reached the finish line =O. What’s always been legendary and great about Kohachan is just how unearthly hyper she always was back then!!! It was the best thing really when she’d be on H!M as her energy and enthusiasm was second to none period.

I didn’t even know that AKB has a Sports Festival however I did see this little clip albeit she’s running in studio so I can’t imagine her running like that for a long distance as it looks so so strange =P! Perfect analogy with Phoebe’s running in Central Park when Rachel would come to know of this and was to embarrassed to be seen with her…well until she finally gave in LOL =)! Sakura’s arm movements are so awkward…I wonder what Carl Lewis would do if he ever saw her running somewhere =P??!

Woah!! that is quite the amazing purchase that someone did!!!!!!!!!!! And they bought up all of the Ribbon?? Wow I just checked and there’s like one single left =O.That’s an awesome song btw! “Anoko ni yoroshiku!!” such a catchy song!~!

Sadly it’s out of print now but CoCo did finally release a special DVD box set a few years ago…it was like the most exciting thing EVER when we heard about it being released, like finally they’ll be on DVD!!!!!!

This is my box set , there are eight DVDs in all….

Their Budoukan concert is third from the left on the bottom. It was both a triumph for CoCo in achieving an appearance there, back then it was most likely a bigger deal than now as idol groups weren’t performing there very often if ever so it was really an honor that much more so back then when CoCo was invited…..on the other hand it was a very sad event as it marked the departure of Senou Azusa from the group as she was slated to go solo from there, however I’ll save the rest of their history for my post which is still in waiting as it’s set to be my final post like a final bookend to blogging =).

That’s some boxed set! Wow! I can imagine your excitement when that appeared. There are clips from Senou Azusa’s concerts on YouTube, so I assume they were also commercially available? I didn’t realise the Sports events were personally tailored to each member. I’d have to have Rika-chan’s for sure. Here’s some pics from the 2015 AKB event, which (surprise, surprise) also ended with a mini festival http://www.stage48.net/forum/index.php?threads/the-2nd-akb48-sports-festival-may-9-2015.9324/

        • I just opened up the second spoiler and saw that in the 30M dash Sakura was dead last and had to smile in a kind way as she runs so oddly that there’s no way she could be quick….also Mayuyu was apparently right next to her bringing up the rear =P!!

Sakura-tan running is still stuck in my head, it won’t go away LOL =)!

It’s like we had been wishing for such a set to be released one day and I was beginning to lose hope of it ever happening and then one day a friend e-mailed me the link @ Cdjapan and there it was!

Un Senou Azusa released her concerts on laser disc along with her video clips, a mixed VHS release combined some CoCo along with her solo works then too however without a laser disc player my friend dubbed them all for me onto VHS…her concerts and ID clips are without question great!

Un you could choose which member you wanted for the event and then it’s literally wall-to-wall coverage of that member up front and center for the entire event. Now that you mention it I do have Rikachan’s sports DVD somewhere as I can clearly remember her getting quite aggressive during that feather team game thingy =P!

Rika-chan aggressive? In a pleasant way, hopefully! She’s usually the first to be affected by exertion and heat at the MoMusu and Biyuden (without the V) concerts. Her face turns completely wet, as if someone’s thrown a bucket of water at her. I wonder if this happened during the sports, or if she was able to stay cool? The AKB event was held at a time of year before the humidity turns unbearable, so presumably the H!P event was no later than May. I’m just remembering backstage footage from an early AKB48 National Tour concert, where some of the members are almost dying from having to perform in 37 degrees C, which is around 98F! Typical AKB professionalism, though: the show went on regardless, and you’d never know that anyone was suffering. I was reading about the filming of Halloween Night mv. The director was impressed by the member’s commitment to the project and how they seemed to never stop working. They certainly have an amazing determination to do their best.

            • I just found my Aichan Sportsfestival disc yesterday while looking through some storage…quite a lot of people seemed to enjoy or at least be interested in Kohachan’s race clip here as it got a lot of views so maybe I’ll put up Aichan’s race in another random post. U~n Rikachan was particularly competitive during that event going after the other girls….not really her personality but perhaps when it comes to sports it gets her competitive juices going? I don’t particularly remember her sweating more than expected but my memory may be a bit fuzzy as I haven’t watched it in some time. 98 degrees??? Gosh that’s scary hot and then to be exerting so much energy in an environment like that can be so dangerous =O.

Received all the “Halloween Night” singles last week but I’ve a bit too much on the plate at the moment to post it up….and really you’re the only one to react to those posts and I know you won’t be watching any of it until your copies arrive so there’s surely no hurry to post about them =).

My type A arrived yesterday (along with an eBay purchase I’d though was lost in the post four months ago!) and now Halloween Night is stuck in my head. Nothing will shake it out, either. Such an unbelievably catchy chorus. Love the mv too, especially the pirate costumes, which are straight out of Lucky 7! A definite winner (you can’t go greatly wrong with classic disco), and my favourite A-side since Green Flash. My bonus pic was Matsui Jurina, btw.

                • Un Sasshi’s disco fever continues here doesn’t it =)!! I’m literally right this minute putting a little something together….just a fun visual post for the most part as what does one say if something is already profoundly cute?! =P Will take a bit of time to cap and convert the mvs but that is today’s joy~♥ ^^. A~h so lucky to receive Jurina’s photo!!!!! I will reveal the photo’s I received in the upcoming post…..also how does a post office lose mail for such an extended period of time?? =(
