“Thank You” Goro! =)

Fuzzy thingy....

~Fuzzy memories~

Looking back into the vaults (aka: my olllllllllllld VHS =P) from time to time we’ll take a look @ some fuzzy moments~* via a VHS~~>Digital transfer and there’s something definitely warm and fuzzy about these…the fuzzy coming from some of these clips being 2nd or 3rd generation+ VHS dubbed transfers originating @ our local Japan rental shop of yesteryear prior to the digital age =P.

Yokoyama Megumi

SmapxSmap Sankyuu Goro!

SmapxSmap Sankyuu Goro!.. (1)

What do you get when you mix the “hoodlum” character antics of one Nakai-kun & Tsuyoshi (・д・`*)!!w/ a damsel in distress in Yokoyama Megumi?

“Sankyuu Goro!” of course!! \(^o^)/ ☆~!~!~!

Transferred right off of a few of my old VHS tapes here’s a bit of fun in reminiscing one of SmapxSmap’s long-running skits. Take Nakai-kun and Tsuyoshi as the “harassers” where half the fun is in their very speech dialect and in particular Nakai-kun’s rough and tumble accent makes for instant hilarity throughout this series of ongoing skits and if one’s world couldn’t be any tinier next take long-time SmapxSmap alumni Yokoyama Megumi who’s continued bad luck of constantly running into the aforementioned harassers occurs in just about every imaginable locale! =P Still….. obviously the star of these skits is none other than Inagaki Goro whom plays “himself” or at least at namesake and while his not quite “Riddler” offerings (open-ended dialogue….) captures a back and forth humor between himself and Megumi~chan a lot of the hilarity here comes from just wondering where in the world will “Sankyuu Goro!” appear from each next time when called upon for help from a very troubled Megumi~chan (。ーωー。)笑!Sankyuu Goro!’s creative sets will keep you guessing each time wondering of our “hero’s” whereabouts all the while the playful demeanor and antics of our two no-gooders will undoubtedly bring laughter likewise…(^q^)!

Each skit is only about 2 minutes in length as that’s about all the time it takes “Sankyuu Goro!” to “save” the day each and every time ー(* ̄O ̄)ノ!Note: The clips below are numbered only for the sake of order here as they’re not presented here in chronological order as that would be unnecessary with this series and these clips represent just a fractional amount of the “Sankyuu Goro!” episodes out there ^^.

I still laughed a lot, even though I couldn’t catch the dialogue. This is a set-up that can run and run, isn’t it, as there’s always somewhere unexpected for Goro to appear from. It reminded me of a sketch typical of ‘The Fast Show’, a UK comedy series from the 1990s, in which the same ideas were repeated over and over, each time with different dialogue and setting. Johnny Depp loved the show so much he managed to appear in one sketch. I see that Megumi, who threw in a quick ”アイーン” at one point, continues to be a busy actress. Does SmapxSmap still have the bistro segment in the show? Are you able to watch it on your TV, or can’t you get Japanese shows? btw I loved the fuzzy video transfer image; it made the show look as though it was from the Days of Yore!

    • Yes the whole genius of these ongoing skits is the creativity involved in “hiding’ Thank You Goro! -)! In latter skits you see both Nakai~kun and Tsuyoshi searching the area before they begin bothering poor Megumi LOL! Goro’s dialogue is pretty random although depending on the location he’s speaking of things related so for example in a dining situation he’s leaving open ended statements about foods and such. Did you happen to catch Megumi one time replying with “his” “Thank You!?” It really appears to catch Goro completely off guard so I think she may have actually improvised there just to see his reaction on the spot =). Ohhhh Johnny Depp’s a favorite of mine and Sasshi’s and Kitarie’s and likewise millions of women everywhere =P! The “Aiin….!” always readily reminds me of Rikachan who did a most funny rendition of it during skits and the like! Notice how Goro kept waiting for her to do it “correctly” LOL and it also allowed for the set change….notice how that mannequin kept changing poses…that was so funny!~! Un they do and I do plan on shopping for some episodes the next time I’m in town with a bit of free time as there’s a video/book/music second hand store which sells their rentals after they’re dated a bit =). For me the Bistro guest is always what attracts me in getting an episode as I peruse their inventory. Sadly I’m not able to or actually have no clue on how to receive t.v. from there so I always have to either rent or buy them. Un really does make these truly fuzzy memories, some fuzzier than others…(^q^)!
