While C-ute’s lone single of 2015 has long been in replay-mode in my i-Pod for nearly three months now I still feel the need to gush a “bit” over it ヽ(。´▽`。)ノ。。!! やっほぃ♪、...and I’ll begin by saying something I’ve long been holding back on saying which is that C-ute really has become the flagship group of H!P and really has been for some time now. Now one may think it thumping upon sacred ground here as Momusu is the begin-all of H!P in itself (and for years myself being a staunch supporter and believer!) and yet the stability of the groups’ members, their heightened individual vocalizations, their personality dynamics, the accomplished and top notch dance choreography they’ve produced throughout the years along with the layers upon layers of musical genres they’ve delved into just sets C-ute far above and apart from any of their peers or group siblings alike in H!P as they stand today.
So why state this now? Well it’s a combination of everything I’ve just said about the girls themselves and their immense talents meshing with the ONE thing and this one thing alone which originally got me into J-Pop to begin with and that’s of course simple stated… is the music. Sounds obvious or silly right? What I mean is that all those years ago when I first encountered Japan’s musical gift to the world there was very limited access to any information on the genre on the internet, no instant streaming, (gulp!) no widespread downloading, no instant access to music videos and perhaps most importantly no social media as we now live it. So with that you see it was simply all about the music where often times its sole companion to further one’s stimulation was its accompanying CD jacket and liner notes you were holding in your hands and not much else if anything. So now it makes perfect sense right? There were no weekly/ daily idol programs and such to allure or simply interest someone which were readily accessible at a click of your mouse…. no where near the accessibility to idol’s personalities as there is today. It was their music which needed to be great. It needed to entice. It needed to interest nearly on itself and even more so for fans abroad. Today’s generation of idols have it much better and worse at the same time in this regard…. there’s an instantaneous access to them in numerous means and way with social media and the media itself leading the charge which creates instant buzz and a means to promote one’s own charm and craft and of course music, however at the same time this double edged advantage of the now also presents the inevitable possibility of too much access and too much exposure with trolls and the like just a simple ill advised click away and possibly worse. But I could go on and on for hours about this and so let’s get back to the main topic at hand. The why now question. Coupling the (C-ute) girl’s maturity, heightened abilities/their natural talents and achievements along with this now their latest 27th single…. along with the music of this triple A-side release for me was like seeing and experiencing C-ute in an all new light and tier of a culmination of everything I could imagine a top idol group to be. Like when I first saw Pulp Fiction I was like so this is what a movie can do and be!!!!!!!! And likewise with what in my mind is a totally landmark single for C-ute here as these three (two much more in particular…) songs are at long last giving the girls the artistic material they so deserved and needed in order to lift them to the summits of pop contemporary power ^^. And on a side note: What’s your “Pulp Fiction?” As in is there a film which blew you away so much that it made you realize all that a film could actually be when at its very best…. like saying OHHH so this is what a film can truly do ^^. (Godfather 2, another candidate in my mind =) ).
To further elaborate, idol groups in general go through several rebirths when it comes to their music and for most it’s truly what gives them the fuel for longevity in the business side of things. That is to say most begin in youth with an adorable agenda of music then branching out towards other mainstreams or outer musical influences for example it could be electronica or hip~hop and also with the inevitable aging of idols within a group of constant members particularly…. it’s a natural progression of perception needing to keep up with their reality no matter how much fan perception may want to “hold them back”.
“Tsugi no kado wo magare” and “Gamusha LIFE” are C-ute’s “Pulp Fiction” (btw only if you agree that “Pulp Fiction” is everything in which a movie can BE… then will my possibly odd? analogy here make an sense at all =) ). All of their talent, all of their achievements…. and now the musical “script” to put it all together at the highest of levels~.
Oh,
..but before I cap~spam you with this momentous triple A-side I’ll forewarn you that there “may” be a “bit” of Airiin~♡ sultry visual bias here. Just a tad bit =).
And likewise why not we have a brief UTB x Airiin~♡ moment together too….
Now you do recall Airiin’s “Perfect Book airi~aL” right? (If not you can click~* to the left to be instantly transported there!) Well late last November Airiin released a second “Style Book” and here’s just a small taste commemorating its release care of UTB’s January 2015 issue where let’s just say that it’s Airiin at her sensual best!! =):

If this isn’t the definition of sexy then I need more education =).

If this isn’t a take me now moment then it’s just me…huh? (。ーωー。)笑!
~In order of ♡!!~
~C-ute “Tsugi no Kado wo Magare” (mv)~
If Airiin’s constant allure/camera flirting throughout this mv doesn’t mesmerize… then I cannot help you =).
~C-ute “Gamusha LIFE” (mv)~
Oh sunny day! Bright day! Without a cloud in sight =).
~C-ute “The Middle Management ~Josei Chuukan
Kanrishoku~” (mv)~
The electro~vocalization thingy usually doesn’t work for me, however C-ute here has produced an exception =).
(*´∀`) うれしー♥♥♥!
Hi there! This is the second attempt at posting a comment: I accidentally clicked on a bookmark and lost everything I’d written. Doh!
Anyway, your videos are all working fine. It must have been horrifying to find them not playing. They’re excellent videos too. You certainly get your money’s worth with C-ute. It’s good having them dancing in an environment rather than a studio set, too. Quite a few H!P videos consisted of Juice=Juice etc dancing in front of a curtain. It’s a great way to showcase the song, but just think back to the glory days of Early MoMusu videos, when no expense was spared. C-ute are probably H!P’s best unit at the moment, MoMusu sadly being not quite what it once was. I like all three songs here. ‘Middle Management…’ is a great example of how to use that electronica sound and not be boring. Western electronica tends to be very static, and for me very dull, but here the music’s actually going somewhere.
As for my ‘Pulp Fiction’ movie moment…(I hope these links will work…)

I saw this Jean Luc Godard movie when I was at art college. It was a couple of decades old even back then, but still felt amazingly modern. It’s completely crazy, designed to annoy and baffle, and is also beautiful, filmed in eye-popping, candy-toned Eastmancolor widescreen. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but at the time I thought it was the best movie ever! Coincidentally, another of Godard’s movies, ‘Bande a Part’ (The Outsiders) was a huge influence on Pulp Fiction, especially this dance scene:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1MKUJN7vUk (the music track drops out on purpose: it’s just Godard having fun messing with the cinemagoer).
Even though I’ve had other ‘Pulp Fiction’ moments over the years (way too many to list here), ‘Pierrot le Fou’ was the first.

Autocorrect added an extra ‘d’ to Godard. How annoying. I shall exclaim doh! again. Sadly, I can’t edit it…

Oh dear I’ve done that many too times too and it’s like OH NO can I possibly recall everything just right once again??! A few times I lucked out by using the ‘back’ click on my browser and amazingly all of my text was still there =).
I’d contacted WP support and they’re looking into the issue now as it seems to affect mainly mobile devices where none of the videos play at all… hopefully it will all be resolved soon but I’m so relieved that they’re still working for you!! U~n C-ute has really risen to the forefront and really it’s their songs quality which has elevated so much too along with the girls always being so great!! Definitely nice to see well thought out and presented mvs too with a lot of visual substance and YES real locations too. And YES the earlier years of Momusu were second to none back then when it came to overall production and song writing…. I’ve now lost pretty much all touch with their music these days which is sad to say, especially considering that they were my idol~world back then without question =(.
Ohhh thank your for sharing~♥ your “Pulp Fiction” moment!!!! And for getting where I was going with that to begin with as it was a rather randomly thought out analogy of sorts for sure =P. I remember having an “Amelie” moment too many years ago thinking it was everything one could accomplish with a movie!! That and Pulp Fiction pretty much reign supreme for me although surely there are others =). Like your choice, some movies are so ahead of their times and I love that dance scene you’ve linked here!!… YES Tarantino’s influences no doubt run vast and deep into cinematography history…. and particularly it is very true with his music choices and how he enters them into scenes in a very particular fashion… his Reservoir Dogs has one of the most memorable and very frightening one yet and I imagine you know exactly which one I mean!! I’m going to edit out the extra D’s…. sometimes autocorrect drives me bonkers while typing on a phone too xD!
