The first dilemma of a solo artist when in concert stems from their ability to create an aura of stage presence…a dynamic that isn’t as demanding upon group ensembles and units as their performances aren’t dependent on a single performer alone. And anyone who’s watched any Ayaya concert will probably agree that she entails all the qualities needed to “own” the stage and connect with the audience whether the venue be large or intimate, something that she’s displayed time and time again over the years.
Even going back during her Hello!Project days, Ayaya was unique in H!P in that her shows always featured a live band and have been that way for quite some time now. The extra dimension that a live band brings to the atmosphere of a concert versus recorded backing music simply cannot be overstated! Interestingly there was a time when idol groups regularly employed live bands…many of them being a set cast of musicians who toured with the groups on a regular basis. Some even featured band names back then as they were really an extension of those idol groups in the largest sense. The extra energy created on stage with the presence of a live band is undeniable and with that also comes the possibility of improvisation…the true inner beauty of live band performances. The possibilities are endless as the art of improvisation can take songs out of their skins and breath a whole new life into them. Of course add to all of that, Ayaya’s undeniable vocal stature even going back to her idol~ly days as hers was always upon the upper echelon of artists born from H!P and beyond even…the short list of the former being the likes of Mikitty, Gomaki and Nacchi in her latter releases.
Now for tonight’s performances, think back to those days of loving Ayaya’s DVD release ↑↑↑ “Suna wo Kamuyoni. . . NAMIDA – STUDIO LIVE” with the only complaint being just how short it runs as it includes just three choice performances. Still this mini stage live with a complete accompaniment of an amazing seven piece live band resonated with a collective fans’ wishes~* of it continuing on and on or perhaps an entirely new concert with likewise ambiance~.
Well that wish~* does indeed come to fruition here as Ayaya’s Blu-ray release ↑↑↑ of her exquisite performance at the COTTON CLUB titled “Luxury Christmas Night 2013” features an amazing live band, the intimacy of a smaller venue as well as a dream~* worthy set-list taken from two consecutive performances. And while this heightened class of performance occurring in such a warm venue can’t be overstated as it creates such a unique atmosphere for audience and artists alike, it’s clearly Ayaya’s vocals taken to jazz not lightly here as she puts on display a culmination of just how much she’s grown into a seasoned professional all so evident in her vocal nuance/control as well as her audience engaging MCs throughout these musical gems….how she interacts, the seemingly effortless candidness as Ayaya surely can work a room!
Interestingly this Blu-ray was just released mid February of this year although the performances covered date all the way back to the winter of 2013….why the long wait I’ve no idea but I do know that it was way WAY worth that wait =).
So for tonight’s enticing I’ve chosen 5 favorite performances, songs I’m sure you’ve got on your beloved~Ayaya♥ tracks list and while with the sheer massive size of Blu-ray files I’d needed to dumb them down a bit so to speak resolution wise, I’m pretty sure they’ll still appear pretty clear here albeit there’s simply nothing like true HD loveliness to engage your eyes, heart and mind…..and with that in mind do purchase this one as I guarantee you’ll be in for a live concert treat like no other! ^^
(I wasn’t the only one loving the concert!)

How “dearest.” was never a lead single track I’ll never comprehend, it’s like the immaculate love ballad in every imaginable way…lyrically, musically and YES vocally! ^^
