When Takigawa Marin was told she was going to appear on television, do you think this is what she had in mind…?
Love the Nogizaka46 pics. Have you listened to バレッタ yet? It’s a great song, and the pv is really good!

    • Lol I imagine not =P!!

The rich orchestration and overall style is very cool 80’s like as AkiP loves…sweetly melancholy I think, it’s catchy. It never ceases to impress just how much 48 producers put into their pv productions with the entire storyline and cast of gangsters and woh violent!! I especially love the switch to katana from gun and cool fight choreography throughout complete with a twist ending, equally shocking. It was chocolate instead of blood but the first 48 pv I remember being recommended to watch was “Ashita wa Ashita no Kimi ga Umareru” by Chocolove and it’s such a sweeeeeeet melody and I’m watching this incredibly violent pv to go along with it and yet it was chocolate and not blood…a lasting impression for sure and that song is still one of my most favorite by AKB…Sae and Sayaka so great in that unit. This Nogizaka46 song didn’t depict chocolate though =P….makes it much more violent in that sense and yet the song was such a contrast in melody, part of the genius of the 48/46 family for sure.

When you think about the early AKB48 songs, they dealt head on with difficult subjects: bullying and suicide, schoolgirl prostitution, falling for a teacher etc; so that darker strand has been there from the start. Then of course there’s the Beginner pv (the proper one), which was pulled for being too violent. Fortunately it was included on last year’s pv compilation….Chocolove was a good subgroup, but its life was sadly so brief!

        • So true, and for an idol group it’s really unique in a sense in how AkiP has produced their purely idol image on one hand, also having them bring to light so many powerful and sometimes controversial topics which in so many ways music has an equally powerful means to provide a widespread outlet for. And as we’ve spoken about before, AKB pvs are like mini movies in themselves with amazing running times so often where the storyline has an intro and a finale with all the true makings of a full blown mini movie set production. The bullying theme for me personally was even a bit difficult to swallow as it’s such a widespread and sad reality we live in…it’s really like some of the very worst things a person can do to another person and it occurs both in person as well as online and with social media outlets so much a part of society now it’s doubly sad to see it happening in this media as people I think say things in which they would never never ever say face to face to another. The real “Beginner” pv was eye opening and especially as I had heard all of the hype and reactions before ever seeing it…and yes! another reason to collect their pv Bluray collections. Chocolove will forever be one of my first tastes of AKB, so it’ll always remain most special~♥.

I was so surprised by the lukewarm reaction to So Long. Even though I can’t understand much of the dialogue (I’m very slowly attempting to translate it!), it’s a wonderful way to spend an hour, and I’ve watched it several times. Mayuyu is magnificent throughout, and the visuals are amazing. And when the song appears, it’s emotionally so satisfying. I love that release.
By the way, two versions of the latest single have finally arrived. I was blown away by the pv for Mosh and Dive. Usually the beauty make-up is quite subtle for the videos, so it was a surprise to see so much lipstick! Some of them looked really different, and they all looked as though they dropped out of heaven. Great song too, perhaps more memorable than the A-side (?) Can’t wait to work my way through the other songs.
Hey…it’s 2014! Just heard the fireworks going on. I won’t wish you Happy New Year until 8 hours time!

            • Oh I wasn’t aware of how So Long was received =(…it’s a bit puzzling and especially with yes the music and cast and all. I’ve yet to open my copies…love that they included a postcard this time along with the external photo extra…sounds amazing and yet with Yuko now leaving it feels very odd just anticipating watching/ listening to them…even if she isn’t being featured.

Happy New Years!!! We’ve still got about 9 hours and 39 minutes to go =)….

Oh, my maths was all wrong. Didn’t realise you were 9 hours or more behind. The firework display in Sydney harbour looked amazing. Hopefully there’ll be your islands’ celebrations on YouTube some time tomorrow. I hope you enjoy ‘Suzukake…’ Mosh and Dive is a real treat. If it’s any consolation to hearing about her graduation news, Yuko looks truly beautiful.
