Anyone remember when Tower Records first launched their ‘NO MUSIC NO LIFE’ campaign back when, well when record stores still existed widespread in the U.S. and as it was a co-op with Tower Records Japan with a project aimed at promoting artists/groups through the store chain with this very cool slogan being featured on artist posters, T-shirts, stickers and lots more! So popular J-artists would then pose with the slogan by either wearing it or having it beside them with much of the promotions appearing on billboards across all stores and employees too would be given T-shirts and buttons also donning the ‘NO MUSIC NO LIFE’ message and today the trademark red wording against a bright yellow background is pretty much embedded as this everlasting symbol of how music for everyone is such a meaningful and educational part of our lives no matter what artists/groups or genres you love~.
Anyway so this issue of Young Gangan in addition of course to Mayuyu gracing its cover!..caught my attention with its cover dialogue of the slogan ‘NO LIFE NO MAYUYU’ and even though its stated backwards to Tower Record’s slogan it’s the very first thing that came to mind in an instant ~* =D. So here’s Mayuyu in another gorgeous gravure pictorial because U can never have enough MAYUYU♡….EVER!! Also in this issue are Minarun and Ito Yui and if she can’t get you to pick up a Playstation handheld gaming system then nothing probably will! =P
There’s some pretty cool Tower Records nostalgia as well as an archival project going on here =). And in Japan the stores continue to thrive even in this DL dominated culture and economy with the slogan of ‘NO MUSIC NO LIFE’ adding to its ongoing history each day as artists continue to live it and promote it \(^o^)/~!
