September 18th marked the triumphant ~* return of Acchan♥ to the world of J-pop as she released her now 3rd solo single titled “Time Machine Nante Iranai” which yet again represents an all around outstanding production and a perfect follow~up to her previous two solo works in every aspect! Add in that smile ~* that personality ~* the voice ~* her charisma ~*….
This single however is her very first post her AKB career and we’re immediately reminded so vividly of how much Acchan represents the role model for all that is the mark of professionalism and that to go along with just how gorgeous Acchan is inside and out with that wonderfully unguarded smile which we’ve all come to love and adore over her tenure as idol pop royalty~.
As photographed above I opted for Acchan’s type A & B singles which both feature wonderful digipak housing (also found with Mayuyu’s latest single release) and with each first pressing you’ll additionally receive both an internal as well as external photo card extra (external photo card is a Neowing/Cdjapan exclusive). Both covers also feature lifted graphics as both the crossed out Time Machine logo along with the single/ artist titles (those graphics which appear similar to those ‘Hello My Name is’ badges;top left in pink & blue) are textured giving them a 3~dimensional feel upon the single’s glossy outer casings. Type B’s cover artwork is also a bit reminiscent of a tribute of sorts to Marilyn Monroe with her dress blowing up scene and all photo artwork was shot on location in New York.
~Type A casing & booklet~
Both versions here include a glossy lyrics/photo booklet as below are A & B’s covers as well as both booklet’s images.

~Time Machine Nante music video~
~Maeda Atsuko “Time Machine Nante
Iranai” (music video)~
As the title suggests the overall production of “Time Machine Nante Iranai” is chock full of nostalgic flair both visually (classic 50’s diner locale) and musically as it’s intermingled with a most profoundly cute and modern touch ~*! The song itself is pure~poppy~joy~♥, the sort of song which captures both your imagination and musical taste buds within just a few notes, the style of song with that readily ‘walking on sunshine’ type of feeling to it and by the short time in which its chorus bounces around you’re already feeling addicted! And although Acchan’s idol/musical roots with AKB are now passed her it’s evident that her sole producer through that era has also tagged along most notably!!….just check out the lyrical credits as none other than the incomparable AkiP has penned not only the title track’s lyrics but also each of its coupling with songs in entirety =D.
~The music video making of~
~Making of Atsuko in NY~
In addition to the original music video single type A also includes exclusively the music video making of (a must have!!!) which takes us along for a most in depth behind the scenes look into the mv’s shooting which was completely done on location in New York! Acchan ever the professional along with her naturally photogenic personality makes for the ideal model during the various locations used for the jacket and booklet’s numerous photos and also note the photographer who’s foreign as this also applies to much of the overseas production staff for both the photography as well as the mv’s production. The editing in itself for this clip was produced so creatively utilizing everything from vintage video effects, artistically done split screens and a post production in wonderfully aesthetic coloring. Acchan’s time in NY captured so candidly making this just over 21 minute making of clip a most enjoyable ride!!
Herein we also meet the mv’s director, witness the wardrobe check and note the Daruma doll which Acchan fills in one of the eyes for the director as a gift. Traditionally the Daruma doll is gifted as both a goal and wish setter as the owner would fill in a single eye upon setting forth a goal/wish and later upon accomplishing that goal/wish the owner would then draw in the remaining blank eye paying homage to the Daruma doll bringing its fruition.
What’s great is that you can witness the actual artistic direction between the mv’s director and Acchan in numerous instances where an open dialogue can be heard and through a translator Acchan nails each and every task of the day’s shooting to easy perfection ~*. And be on the look out for a fun exchange where Acchan’s learning some new street lingo~~>such as….’wut up!!’ =D And here the director too is learning from Acchan some useful Japanese phrases in between shooting to pass the time….watch for the director to also sneakily video~bomb Acchan during one of her commentary clips lol…(^q^)! Really just one of the much more immersive and candid mv making of clips and so much can be said of the chemistry between the foreign director and staff which Acchan remarks in closing commentary as being such a totally different experience from any of her prior Japanese staffed mv shoots and it seems that Acchan has made more than a few friends♥ here (*´∀｀*) ♪～♪。
~Type B DVD extras~
While both types A & B’s DVD includes the original music video, type B includes exclusively a behind the scenes look into Acchan’s Sapporo rehearsals which date back to late July leading up to her graduation concert held just a bit later. The rehearsals seen here are for Acchan’s solo performances during the AKB48 live event, which included all three of her solo single title tracks. Also included is a digest of her actual live performances which proved to be an emotional whirlwind as expected.
