Idols unzipped...

Happy Aloha~♥ Friday!!

For tonight’s Unzipped♥ we’ll be going back just a bit to 2005, the year of Momusu’s Gen. 7 member Koha~chan’s debut!

~H!M 12/4/05 Magic Restaurant featuring Kusumi Koharu~

So after making a table float about in the room and some innocent looking tricks, first we’ll re-witness an early episode of Hello! Morning’s “Magic Restaurant” where Koha~chan becomes the ‘volunteer’ for a pretty frightening magic trick as her um…arm becomes the object in jeopardy and boy with that cucumber in hand and after all of the subsequent chopping going on it’s no wonder that this one brings Koha~chan to tears =(….think arm/finger guillotine (゜Д゜;)!!And watch/listen for Reinachan to throw the very first verbal jab at the whole situation concerning the continued connection of Koha~chan’s arm to her body…OMG it’s still unsettlingly funny today!!

H!M 12 4 2005 (4)H!M 12 4 2005 (1)H!M 12 4 2005 (2)H!M 12 4 2005 (3)H!M 12 4 2005 (5)H!M 12 4 2005 (6)H!M 12 4 2005 (7)H!M 12 4 2005 (9)

…and of course leave it to Mikitty to hope for the ‘best’ for poor Koha~chan♥ too =O!! You gotta love that about Mikitty who was never one to pull any punches or hold back ever lol =P.

~Music Fighter July 16th, 2005 Guest: Momusu (subtitled)~

Sure Nishin and Kajihara were always funny and quick but for that something just a little extra special it usually came down to the always expressive and hilarious Sayaka as this trio of hosts on this night welcomed Momusu during their “Iroppoi Jirettai” period (still one of the group’s sexiest and most spicily stylish single wardrobes!) and of course that also means that it was the debut single for Gen.7 it girl “Koha~chan♥! U~n and who could forget just recently before this memorable episode the beginnings of the great Sayaka vs. Sayu verbal battle!!! It all stemmed from Sayaka making mention of her possibilities of joining Momusu to which Sayu instantly had shut her down in a most hilarious fashion and the topic became who’s cuter and Sayu was most blunt with her answers…and so the full blown hilarity was certainly on! Tonight’s episode focuses on each member’s thoughts on the group itself which leads to let’s just say, some very very interesting answers! And yes Koha~chan was just twelve back then =O and to begin Kohachan’s thoughts on Momusu are revealed including her favorite fellow member, how a particular food equates to the joy of joining Momusu and Tsunku’s evaluation of Koha~chan herself…remember the ‘ace’ comment he famously made when only one girl was chosen during the Gen.7 auditions? However even more interesting are Tsunku’s initial evaluations of some of the other members and in particular Konkon’s…..really Tsunku?! Yeah my jaw still drops to this day every time I hear that O_o! Still Konkon takes it in context quite nicely. And if you remember the early days of Sayu with Momusu her singing was a very notable weak point to which she would make it a point to grow and improve on later which she blossomed into really well. The flashback looks at some of the girls also brings enlightened joy and just seeing them so so young again, some really amazing footage here including Yossi before she went all tomboy on us =P! And when we finally get to the episode’s main theme where the girls in anonymity reveal their collective thoughts on individual fellow members it’s wonderfully candid with some really tough questions being thrown out there…which leads to lots of nervous moments ~*  the ‘how many girls still think they’re cuter than the new girl Koha~chan♥ question as well as the always present Mikitty vs. Sayu’s cuteness lol yup there’s a lot of revelations being made in this corner for sure. Anyway not to spoil the episode with my rambling on..oops did a bit already xD…I’ll leave you to your thoughts and reminiscing, enjoy the episode =)!

Hi! Great post. I’d not seen the magic guillotine scene before. Really enjoyed Koha-chan’s reactions. Nacchi was taking it very seriously too. What does Tanaka Reina actually say? How was Koha-chan initially received by the rest of MoMusu?

    • That was sooooo scary and although I’m thinking it’s surely magic so nothing bad is going to happen it was still so spooky as he kept on slicing up that cucumber so many times and even took the device apart to show it was made solidly..or it so appeared! lol Reina’s so naughty here as she says….”bye bye Koharu.” What’s extra special about Kohachan’s entrance into the group is just how well documented it was and especially with their weekly program Hello! Morning the coverage was so complete and she being a solo addition to the group made it that much more detailed. The premise was set when Tsunku had said before announcing his choice for the Gen.7 Auditions that he had chosen an ‘ace’ and it set an incredible precedence and also a great pressure upon Kohachan and in a sense for Tsunku too to produce and make good on his words. Tsunku actually visited her school unannounced and surprised everyone there by making his announcement of Kohachan winning the audition and when she first appeared to the other girls you could really see and hear a total sense of apprehension as if this new girl was going to challenge them and perhaps be superior to the others, in indirect comments this was very telling of how she was first accepted. However when she made her very first appearance on H!M all of the girls were given a lengthy opportunity to ask anything that they wanted to know about her and it really bonded them instantly in how Kohachan answered so maturely and how much she respected everyone in the group…Mikitty most of all. And then of course in that very same H!M episode each of the girls also got a chance to challenge Kohachan one on one in a game….lots of laughs there!…I was originally going to include clips from that episode in this post but then later opted for the Music Fighter episode as I thought it being subtitled would be much easier to enjoy. Wasn’t it hilarious when the girls were all asked which of them still thought that they were cuter than the ‘new’ girl Kohachan and with three girls answering yes and only one being obvious wasn’t that so funny =D!!..that and how the guys both got jilted brutally at the end lol =P!

What’s amazing is how mature Koha-chan was for her age (a bit like Matsui Jurina in a way), and being tall, she seemed much older than she was. Such a likeable personality, so I’m pleased she blended so well initially. Any idea what she’s doing at the moment? I’m sure she has a blog, but my translation would take forever to do and be wildly inaccurate anyway!

        • I just wished that her time in H!P was longer…I’ve always felt that she graduated much much too soon…like Kamei although Kamei’s was for health issues =(.

U~n I’ve checked up on her blog from time to time and she really keeps from the celebrity life and quite private for the most part..she looks and sounds happy so maybe the idol life she had outgrown back then…thinking in hindsight =). I was watching the Music Fighter episode again, it just cracks me up each time…especially Makochan’s little buzzer~stumble over Kohachan =D…the hosts just great too.

Yes, a shame her MoMusu career was just a couple of years. Imagine doing all that she did and then basically retiring by 20! Life could seem really flat after that. But it’s great she’s happy. There’s always anime work…She still has that characterful voice to make use of…

            • Her anime affiliation and work back then while in H!P was most memorable, I wonder if she ever thought of seriously becoming a seiyuu though as she no doubt could achieve working as such quite easily it appeared. I loved when some of the AKB girls visited an anime studio and got to first hand try their hand or rather voice at creating a scene live with the animation upon a screen as it proved to be much more difficult than imagined initially…Mayuyu a natural of course.

Was that the ‘Dragon Ball Kai’ studio visit? I loved that DVD extra, even though I couldn’t follow the dialogue. Yukirin was very good. But as you say, Mayuyu is a natural performer. Her future certainly looks bright.

                • Ah yes!! that’s the one!! I wrote about it somewhere here…somewhere lol I can get lost in my own blog it seems xD. U~n Mayuyu was perfectly seamless going into the challenge as if she was already a true seiyuu…..Team Dragon yes.
