“An empty creature walking on two legs
in its subconscious there marks a rhythm
‘with both left and right channels at full volume
the once deflated dream will rise up again..’
that’s the line (in the song) you were talking about wasn’t it?
it’s like this song were made especially for just you and I
what sort of face were you making as you listened?
a sound so sweet it makes the heart yearn”
“…the melody line launches a colorful and mystical phrase,
with its sparkles it shows us a dream
so we may fly to a new day
so we may begin to crawl from the past
oh rock me baby, tonight
come on pump up the volume.”
The first verse and chorus from Mr.Children’s “Esora”, like many of Sakurai’s lyrics the vivid visualizations are brought to life through candid conversations and circumstance (the second verse even more symbolic of his candidness but this one sets the table) set to wonderfully composed music and here with “Esora” we’re treated to an everyday romance between two who are finding their way with words and actions rooted in faith and most importantly in each other’s love. In many ways Sakurai’s tone for writing is not unlike that of the late Sakai Izumi (Zard) who’s lyrics also spoke of lives, dreams and every day situations we can all find a relation to, it’s words like these when set to masterful notes of melodies so perfect that you can’t help but find a rightful attachment to them where personal lives connect in the sense of time and place or whatever you had been engaged in on those given days or months in which specific songs, lyrics and melodies alike become engraved in one’s memories, forever connecting your life events with a song~. For me Mr.Children holds many of those such memories where I can recall readily where my life was and whom I was with when these wonderful songs were released. Favorite songs and artists are wonderful that way, how they forge the way for future reminiscing.
And well if you’ve been reading my ‘somewhat’ (it’s actually really weird, random and sexually active sometimes =P) offbeat and odd blog for any significant time being then you’ll surely know that my musical peak is comprised of Mr.Children and The Beatles. They’re like the Everest of musical achievements and sentiments for me so okay tonight I’ve been watching Mr.Children’s “Tour 2011 SENSE” on Bluray and it’s actually the very first concert Bluray which Mr.Children released. 26 amazing performances in crisp HD and this girl’s happy….here are four of my favorite performances from tonight’s concert for each of these songs are not just some of the very best from Mr.Children but they are also songs which take me back to a specific time and place in life, each frozen in memory~♥.
The Bluray version comes digipak styled housed in an outer slip case which also includes a vertically opening full color photo booklet which doubles as a lyric booklet. I love Bluray, if only all visuals could be this immaculate…the performances herein are directly from my concert disc and these turned out very HD I think.
~Mr.Children “Esora” (live Tour
For all of the aforementioned sentiments~♥, this song is most special. The whole Supermarket Fantasy visuals were so amusing and fun too weren’t they..talk about being literally kissed off of your heels in love right smack dab in the middle of a supermarket…just how remarkable and unsuspected would that be! Yes love definitely floats and soars and can persevere in rightful hearts.
~Mr.Children “HANABI” (live Tour 2011
Easily a top 10 Mr.Children favorite of mine or what I’d like to call, the complete package musically and lyrically. I cannot begin to speak of what memories this song entails and always reinvigorates♥ in me whenever I hear it played, it’ll always have a most special place in my heart set in time and if you’re reading tonight I know that you’ll surely know whom I speak of.
~Mr.Children “NOT FOUND” (live Tour
So much raw emotion in this song, I dare you to find one with more.
~Mr.Children “[es]~Theme of es~” (live
Tour 2011 SENSE)~
The iconic song is not performed nearly enough so a performance like this in its rarity is one to be truly cherished~♥. Remember the film [es]? I still have my VHS copy from all those years ago when the band was so full of youth, and me alike.
