~For the most accomplished of bands a thorough excursion through their bodies of work is necessary to fully understand & appreciate their accomplishments….for theirs’ is a tapestry on which rare greatness has gone full circle~.
Princess Princess are: Kishitani Kaori (formerly Okui Kaori, maiden name), Nakayama Kanako, Watanabe Atsuko, Konno Tomoko & Tomita Kyoko.
It had been 16 years since Princess Princess last performed as a group and fittingly it all had come to a finale and final bow at Budoukan in May of 1996. I’ve often dreamt of what it’d be like if they ever decided to reunite one day and how wonderful it would be to able to experience their repertoire of seemingly endless beloved classics once again from the live stage. Fast forward to 2012 and a growing dialogue between the band members gives way to a true intrigue of them reuniting only this time it would be a compact schedule with a much more important cause in mind. The 2011 earthquake and ensuing tsunami which devastated their country would lend to proceeds coming from sales of a concert DVD/Bluray as well as an accompanying CD album, both released on March 27th of this year.
You can also help Japan in their recovery efforts by purchasing any of the three Princess Princess “Tour 2012~Saikai~at Budoukan” releases which can be shopped for here~♥.
~The set list~
Fans were able to chime in on the songs selected and quite simply it’s an immaculate set list and that may still be putting it lightly. The Princess Princess 2012 concerts would sell out and also included on both the Bluray and DVD is an all new documentary “Story of PRINCESS PRINCESS.”

~Princess Princess “Fly Baby Fly” (The Last Live)~
The emotional words of Kaori from their last live concert of 16 years ago are relived upon the stage through a projected movie intro, and from those memorable words….”atashitachi wa gonin de…princess princess deshita…” (the ‘deshita’ having such a sense of finality) a seamless and perfect time flash~forward to this 2012 event is fittingly opened with the very same song “Fly Baby Fly” as the large projection sheet is at last opened! …and triumphantly Kaori replaces the ‘deshita’ with a heartfelt and emotional ‘desu!!!’
~Princess Princess “Fly Baby Fly” (Tour 2012)~

In total I’ve included 15 of the 25 song performances to hopefully give you an in depth feel for the concert and for long time fans of Puri Puri note the nostalgic stage design and stylized graphics…really cool! To say the least….Puri Puri hasn’t lost a single step in their absence! And remember how great they always harmonized live? Backing and lead vocals are amazing throuhgout with Kaori really pushing her vocals so much, tight instrumentation and really just concert perfection~* in every way imaginable! Again I could blabber on for hours upon hours about Puri Puri but I’ll keep from any redundancy as all of my Puri Puri love X’s a million + in between some coherent thoughts, history, stats, live performances, music videos, photos, complete releases, song writing break down + more can be visited here:

Well actually that link above in itself was most redundant as..
….I just did that,
(NO not leave the house forgetting to wear underwear Σ(゜ロ゜;ノ)ノ!)、but rather link that Puri Puri post not too long ago it seems (-∀-`)..!
And seriously how does anyone ‘forget’ to put on their underwear before going out??... (・o・)、okay I ‘once’ went to the supermarket not wearing a bra in my naïve and/or younger years thinking no one would notice because I’m let’s just say not very sizeable in that way, but after encountering the frozen food section you can be assured that that’ll NEVER happen again (._.;).
In case you’ve been following my Bluray conversion adventures up till now I’ve only known how to create still very large mp4 clips from Bluray. However I now can dumb~down the Bluray format pretty much to the tiniest of encodings so here I’ve tamed the Bluray format quite a lot giving the clips here a much less daunting memory drain on the blog. Please note that the sound quality may be noticeably better beginning from the performance of “M” and thereafter as I failed to notice the sound settings up till that point =P. ..please forgive, but nonetheless please enjoy the reunion of Princess Princess♥ @ Budoukan in all of its glory~*~~*... ヽ(。´▽`。)ノ。。!!

If you’re more into ballads then I’d recommend One, Julian, Papa and M…..or for rock then I’d recommend GUITAR MAN, Get Crazy which is more of a bluesy rock song for starters…or pretty much everything by them. Puri Puri has written music in pretty much every genre in some form or another so most of all I’d recommend going to the main Puri Puri post which is linked twice above in this post as there you can learn about the band, the individual members, their history, complete music discography and more =).

A~h 19 Growing up is such a beloved classic of theirs! Perhaps their most covered and known song is Diamonds, i have a feeling you’ll know it and by checking the link above in the post you’ll find Puri Puri’s entire discography of songs there. You may remember that H!P too did a cover of Puri Puri awhile back, they’re no doubt legendary.

Oh you’ve gone to school here =)! The Japanese book/music store “Nippon Shoten” used to sell lots of used CDs back then in the mid nineties and I actually found a lot of Princess Princess singles and albums at that very store back then! They even had a few first pressings can you believe!~! This blu-ray was the result of a regrouping that they did back then and it also benefited the recovery efforts in Japan after that terrible tsunami so that was a wonderful thing about this tour. Thank you so much!! I try to share as many interests and passions that I have here, happy you found something you enjoyed on your visit =)!
