Tackey & Tsubasa concert tour 2010 Takitsuba Matsuri first press 3 DVD set with 52 page photo booklet

I’ve been wanting this concert for awhile (like from over two years ago and then it slipped my mind (-∀-`) ) and luckily the limited edition was still available so it comes with the extra DVD containing a documentary of Tackey & Tsubasa’s “Takitsuba Matsuri” concert tour as well as a 52 page color photo booklet! While watching the concert I was re~realizing how much I miss them together and while they’ve only released a few live concerts (solo concerts too) this one’s pretty amazing with quite a set list!!

I still do have the most heart for their earlier releases in general and ESPECIALLY their debut album “Hatachi” which till this day I still regard as one of the very finest Johnny’s albums all time~ (more posted on this album later). So here I’ve chosen two songs from “Hatachi” along with a most awesome performance of “SAMURAI!!!!”….love when they get a live band too on stage! (below are a few scans from the LE photo booklet in addition to a few live caps)

~Reminiscing Tackey & Tsubasa♥…..

Tackey & Tsubasa collection...

When considering debut efforts, as aforementioned  Tackey & Tsubasa’s debut album “Hatachi” for me personally  remains amongst the strongest that I’ve  ever come across over the years of collecting J-Pop. The album contains 9 tracks and all are extremely well written and I don’t find it to be a stretch to say all of them could have been singles in their own right. And while I do whole heartedly love all of their releases since which I’ve been busy collecting, there’s a definite separation between the musical styles heard on “Hatachi” verses their later releases which can be pin pointed to the songwriters for T & T’s early releases whom are no longer composing for them sadly. :/ Groups of course go through numerous phases, trends and styles throughout their careers but this is definitley one that I would have really loved to have seen stay around for just a bit longer. The melodies are just so instantly beautiful and attractive on this release beginning with “True Heart” continuing throughout the album till “Epilogue” and “True Heart”‘s international version sung in English. Here’s the majority of my T & T collection~♥.

Tackey & Tsubasa collection....

A beautiful tribute to New York and the terrible tragedy that occurred on 9/11 is shared in the stand out track “The world will never forget…” also making its release date a seemingly conscious thought.

If I really had to split hairs here, my most favorite♥ songs from “Hatachi” would have to be: “True Heart”, “Kiseki”, “The world will never forget…”, and “Sora no screen-rainbow in my soul-“….but this entire album is j-pop perfection.

(Let’s just call this one ‘desert island disc #1, more on this topic coming soon!)

My first impression of Tackey & Tsubasa  was how well their voices compliment each others and how distinctly different they are all the while blending together so seamlessly. There’s also a great bond between them as both have a great sense of humor while not taking themselves too seriously which lends itself into an endearing relationship between artist and fan all the while creating quite a different spin on the music scene while the contrary of this type of star perception can sometimes be a turn off for some. Both are also active in t.v. dramas with Takizawa Hideaki taking a lead when it comes to overall popularity and exposure.

Tackey & Tsubasa (Takizawa Hideaki & Imai Tsubasa) are part of the “Johnny’s Entertainment Group” (Johnny’s Jimusho) and an interesting aspect of this is how it nearly mirrors the structure of Hello! Project in terms of member recruitment, grooming process, as well as group formation. JE’s answer to H!P’s Eggs are their Johnny’s Jr. group. The familiar process of starting off as back up dancers/singers until finally becoming a part of a chosen group is very much the same as it is with H!P with the exception of widespread auditions. Johnny’s Jr. however holds an edge when it comes to early performance exposure as H!P Eggs tend to remain well kept secrets until emerging in new units & groups with only minimal stage appearances during select H!P concert events (although a bit of that trend has changed over time since). Tackey & Tsubasa debuted shortly after Arashi and were common members in the Johnny Jr.’s pool while going through the grooming process giving them a nice link to each other. And while their T&T music releases have become much more sparse in recent years, there’s a lot to look back into and reminisce sweetly~♥ about including a few of my all time favorites in now video here….

I’ll take the time to follow this properly later, but this is exactly the Samurai song I was thinking about =D I also reminded that I like “Venus” while I watched the performance here. BTW, these songs that repeat their names over and over in the chorus do wonders for my memory. No way I’d remember this stuff without those hooks.

    • Ohh please do indulge in more and more T&T♥ when you get the chance….”Ho! Summer” is right there up at the top for me with “True Heart” and “Kiseki” and coincidentally it’s summer =). A real trademark for T&T which makes them so different from their Johnny’s counterparts is how much of their dance choreography likewise with many of their song’s lyrics has these much repeated dances which are truly giddy at times to downright cheesy even but in a good cheese way of course! They’re not doing the cool moves like with Arashi or SMAP for many of their trademark songs and I absolutely love them for that as in a sense it’s like they’re not taking themselves too seriously which is most attractive for men period I think =).

I was just thinking the same thing here, how it’s like I’m watching two Nagase Tomoyas in there. Which is my particular way of pointing out the “not taking themselves too seriously” type of coolness. But I’d add, you also have to be actually good at whatever you’re doing, or that coolness doesn’t really fly. The point is to be good even though you don’t look like you’re even trying that much. Or, when you’re not being cool, make it funny and clear that all the silliness is just on purpose, you’re really capable of doing everything perfectly but just have a sense of humor (that’s more than half of Nagase’s acting on doramas (particularly comedies) right there…)

        • Perfectly stated =)!! And I so love your Nagase Tomoya analogy which is right on. You articulate so much better than my brain ever could and that is literally the most attractive quality in a guy which can often times make or break a relationship in how he shows himself to you both in public and in private.

What’s really reminding me of Nagase is the Venus PV I’ve been watching:

          http://www.jpopsuki.tv/video/Tackey-%2526amp%253B-Tsubasa—Venus/04e2bee08abd24866d9099a82bc7ffd9

Reminds me a lot of his character in Unubore Deka, it was a comedy detective dorama where he was a great detective who got no love from women. Every episode he would eventually figure out the villain (always a woman), and he would make her a proposal: marry him, or go to jail. They always chose jail. Anyway, for these big moments at the end of the episodes, he would dress pretty in white (very similar to T&T in the video) and approach the target in a silly dance (not that far from T&T in the video, but got more exaggerated as the show went on and on). It wasn’t a “must see” in any way, but still pretty funny dorama, if it fit your sense of humor.

          • That was one of the earlier singles that I had gotten of T&T…it’s like hot Ricky Martin~salsa like with YES the cool whites! Takki still had his long highlights too then~♥! I hadn’t watched this video in ages…such a catchy song and the chorus choreography is great!!! I see, it’s a direct connection to this song’s dance and this character of his…I’d not heard of this drama before but have seen him in others but this sounds quite fun with a wonderful quirkiness to it =).
