I originally hesitated to get Gakisan’s solo cover album as it was exclusively being sold at the official UP FRONT site and label affiliate making the need for a proxy necessary for most of us across sea fans. Luckily~* though a bit later (actually many a moons later!!!) it became available at other online shops such as Cdjapan making its purchase much less painful for your $! Well I’ve waited long enough so today’s very exciting to finally get to listen!!!
I didn’t take a peek into the track listing prior to the album’s arrival and what a wonderful surprise to see so so many beloved classics from Momusu, Nacchi, Ayaya, Tanpopo, Manoeri and Melon Kinenbi!!
11 songs in all and it’s really amazing to hear such nostalgic melodies anew and while Gakisan’s vocals may not be perfectly tailored to every song here she resonates beautifully throughout~!
My personal favorites would have to include Gakisan’s versions of “LOVE Namida iro” (one of Ayaya’s catchiest), Melon Kinenbi’s “Onegai miwaku no target” which is quite possibly one of Tsunku’s finest rock songs ever with hooks galore!!, Momusu’s “Manatsu no kousen” and “Furusato” for just their sheer nostalgia in bringing back those times and memories and for sure the Tanpopo offerings here which include “Seinaru kane ga hibiku yoru” (pure holiday joy/ bliss!) and “Koi wo shichaimashita”…really Tanpopo I think till this day is still one of Tsunku’s finest and most ambitious units. I mean how he incorporated all of that Beatles vibe and aura into a great number of their songs in instrumentation, melody and chorus and both lineups of girls so so perfect! And in Ayaya being included here she without question is second to none in all of H!P artists solo or otherwise~. And what can I say about Nacchi’s songs here both in solo and group efforts (Furusato really was like a Nacchi solo (= )…always the face of Momusu in historical terms. End with a latter but established enough member in Manoeri with “My Days for You” which is simply exquisitely beautiful and along with “25 ~vingt-cinq~” they’re certainly the two most in tune melodies giving Gakisan that perfect vehicle to spread her vocal ability~*
Really in love with this album!!…you may be able to tell lol (*≧▽≦)♥！
