Hara Fumina releases...

From the late 90’s till the last decade Hara Fumina has graced countless magazine covers, appeared in numerous variety t.v., hosted sports programs, starred as Sailor Moon, appeared in a ton of CMs, starred in both t.v. dramas and movies…has an array of idol DVDs & shashinshuu and while her career which has spanned well over a decade is primarily known as an actress and former gravure idol, this now 31 year old also ventured into the music scene back in 2001 & 2002~.

And while music may have not have turned out to be her niche, Hara Fumina did release two singles and a pv collection during that span of time.

Hara Fumina releases can be found here at Cdjapan, YesAsia  and Amazon Japan.

Hara Fumina "Naite iiyo/ Negai ga kanau basho" 3" CD single cover scan

~Hara Fumina “Aozora to taiyou to kaze no naka” (mp3)~

What’s really sweet about these singles are the variety and effort put forth into the musical~♪♪ compositions and particularly with her second single where both tracks “Koi wo hajimemashou” & “Aozora to taiyou to kaze no naka” show a great jazz influence in both with some of the chorus portions of the latter taking on a somewhat avant-garde approach~. Her earlier single is more in the vein of contemporary pop with a bit of folk flavoring in “Naite iiyo” while “Negai ga kanau basho” is pure pop fun in a most catchy sense! Fumina’s vocals throughout are more on the cutesy side with a light but sweet♥ intonation~. o(*´∀`)o゛

my BOMB magazine collection '98~'02

Hara Fumina also frequented Bomb magazine which is like idol heaven photography for any collectors out there. ( ̄▽ ̄) Each issue back then averaged about 178 pages and the magazines size was then somewhat more like a digest in a sense as it measures 8 1/4″ x 5 7/8″ (now sized much larger and comparable to most idol publications of today with added poster extras) and the content in this publication is just amazing as in addition to extensive gravure photography in each issue you’ll also find idol news, release news, event & t.v. show/drama updates, idol schedules for what they’ll be doing in the coming weeks, and tons of interviews! Etc! etc! I subscribed from early ’98 through 2002 and my modest Bomb magazine collection consists of 66 issues (growing further till today although I’m much more covergirl~♥ selective now)~.

The featured cover girl for each issue is featured extensively through photography, works, interviews as well as other special features including…..

………your favorite♥ idol’s room invasion!! Σ( ̄◇ ̄*)!!…no I mean room check!…(^q^) It’s really a long running cute feature for their cover girls and it’s really great to see how your favorite idols live and yes~! organize their rooms! Really intimate and unique for sure. ^ ^

And then  of course there’s the “Growing Up Story” feature which also covers each issue’s featured cover girl through personal family photo albums and personal recounts.

And last but certainly not least is Bomb’s famous…

…”Body Check” feature! Of course only the slightly older idols get these and I’m thinking you can imagine why! (。ーωー。)。

  1. She’s pretty – I really like her songs too, they remind me a lot of Noriko Sakai.

    • That’s such an amazing connection! Fumina used to be in so many publications too. And speaking of Sakai Noriko~♡!!…she’s my all time favorite J~pop idol/artist I have literally everything in music she’s released with the exception of this one cassette tape single which wasn’t available in any other format sort of obscure and really rare!! It was a part of this nori P promotion with that cutely funny mascot she had back then…some fans would would take theirs to concerts and events and you can see them in some of her video releases. When I say I’ve collected everything else music wise I mean all of her singles even her origiinal vinyl 45’s, every CD single, all of her albums, and all of her domestic collections with a few imported versions. I also collected her VHS releases for concerts, music videos and her image ones too and then happily Victor released her complete video discography onto DVD =) in one amazing box set which I was previously wishing for…and then one final box set anthology. Her shashinshuu were a bit harder to find but I hunted through used book shops and found quite a lot of them over the years. She even released a children’s book with a CD with an exclusive song inside…sorry I’m Sakai Noriko obcessed and you sort of triggered my love of her~♡ =P.

      • Wow, that is soooo cool – your bedroom must be amazing, like a museum🙂 I’m so impressed!!!! You collect 45’s too?! I’m really impressed!!! I only have one Sakai Noriko CD – it was given to me by my old boss about 5 years ago – didn’t know much about her at the time but now know she is also a successsful actress (Ju-On 2 etc…). Didn’t know she wrote a childrens book though – thanks for the info. The CD title is “Pure Collection” – I’m sure you have this one too. The songs are so beautiful – I reguarly listen to the CD (at least once a month) – it’s the perfect mellow CD to listen to whilst writing or just for chilling out.

        • Haha it’s getting quite that look…a friend tells me my bedroom looks like a store😄..probably not the best look though =P. I did a lot of searching through used record and book shops but luckily there were a lot of her releases which were still available back then when I wanted to complete her music collection. The 45’s I found at an online used CD shop in Japan and one even has a first press sticker still with its sleeve. She acted in some dramas back then too when I was collecting and “Hoshi no kinka” and “Hitotsu yane no shita” were two early ones that I got hooked on…she sings the theme songs for both “Hoshi no kinka” and its sequel “Zoku hoshi no kinka” and signing in Japan became really popular because of this series too which was really cool! In fact both CD singles include the complete sign language for the song’s lyrics. U~n Pure Collection is really sweet..a lot of her wonderful latter songs are on there. “In Snowflakes” is another album I’d recommend for the latter part of her career..guest song writers appear too from Princess Princess really really catchy~♡ songs on this album. It would take a lot of preparing but I’d love to post about Sakai Noriko here too.
