~Practice safe shopping while online…

A lot of us shop online for our international music/idol♥ releases so it’s always important to practice safety first and while, no shopping~online can’t cause pregnancy 😛 there is another concern you should be most aware of.

Really great advice for anyone who buys online.

Difference Between http & https

“http” & “https” – Do YOU Know The Difference ?

Once in a while, there is something that comes down the pike that is of real importance.

What  is the difference between http  and https ?
Don’t  know how many of you are aware of this difference, but  it is worth sending to any that do not…..

**The  main difference between http:// and https://

is  it’s all about keeping you secure** HTTP stands  for Hyper Text Transfer Protocol

The  S (big surprise) stands for “Secure”..  If you visit a website or web page, and look at the address in the web browser, it will likely begin with  the following:  http:///.

This  means that the website is talking to your  browser using the regular ‘unsecured language.  In other words, it is possible for someone to  “eavesdrop” on your computer’s conversation with  the website. If you fill out a form on the  website, someone might see the information you  send to that site.

This  is why you never ever enter your credit card number in an http website!  But if the web address begins with https://, that basically means your computer is talking to the website in a secure code that no one can eavesdrop on.

You  understand why this is so important, right?

If  a website ever asks you to enter your credit  card
information, you should automatically look  to see if the web address begins with https://.

If it doesn’t, You should NEVER enter  sensitive information….such as a credit card number, SS # etc.

Please pass it on (You may save someone a lot of!  grief).

Good stuff, but I’d take it a step ahead and say: never enter sensitive information in a public computer, or public access network (meaning using a wifi connection that’s open to other computers, or using a computer that’s not exactly “public” but that is still connected in a network not only with the Internet, but with other computers in the same physical space, like in most offices). It’s in these cases that the http/https difference matters, and it’s just better to avoid the problem altogether by not using anything at all, if you have some other way to do what you want (if you have private connection). Truth is, if you’re accessing from your own home, for someone to eavesdrop in your HTTP requests they’d need to have already compromised your computer/network somehow, meaning you were hacked, got a virus, or whatever, and at this point there are other ways they can get your credit card information regardless of HTTPS. It’s also important to notice that in no way being HTTPS means the site itself is reliable; this means only that the transaction between your computer and the site is secure, so supposedly no one will be able to eavesdrop on it, but the site itself may be a scam, so you could be securely sending your credit card number straight to the thieves.

You’d be surprised at what other stuff is floating around in the wireless connections so popular these days… For example, MSN messages are completely open. Some printers too. This means if you use these in open access wifi, anybody can listen in, and it’s essentially unblockable and undetectable. It’s like if you have two people talking right next to you; you can choose to ignore their conversation, but if you want to listen in and they’re talking loud enough, there’s no way for them to block you if they’re talking in a language you understand (as in, not using cryptography), and there’s no way for them to know that you’re listening in (at least as long as you don’t look at them / do something stupid)

    • Thank you~* =). You’re always most knowledgeable….this was just passing on a friend’s e~mail as you just never know what bad things are out there but I thought the more people aware the better. So true about open connections and the risks they pose…..better to shop on your own connection and never on an open Wifi.

That’s freaky!!! It’s funny when typing words can be just that “audible” to anyone wanting to “listen”…….but then I think don’t these people have anything better to do with their time?

Oh, I meant to tell you, new Beatles Cd!! How can this be? Well George Martin and his son re-did many of the classic Beatles songs for Circ du Soleil show called Love and it sounds different but still brilliant; some maybe even a bit better?! Think you’ll love<3 it!! On iTunes now!! 🙂

    • They showed a tiny clip of the Beatles Cirque du Soleil last night on American Idol as they all got a chance to watch it….The Beatles music was being featured with all of the contestants. I was shocked that there were so many contestants whom either never heard of the Beatles or hadn’t heard any of their songs before :O…..! Mmm….I may be partial to the original versions and yet any reinterpretation would be wonderful too =).

I am raising the Princesses on The Beatles! Love is unique but most is recognizable. Can you imagine seeing the show in Las Vegas, right after the NASCAR!?!

Maybe that’s why they finally let iTunes get the Beatles music? To keep them alive with the younger generation? I was at a Target recently, and they had hardly any older music!

    • I once got to see a water~themed show at the Wynn hotel which was amazing!!!…that was during the race weekend but now it’s been a few years since I’ve been able to go to Las Vegas =/. There can be no better music than the Beatles…..I hope your nieces love them too!!!

U~n it was really smart and a great collaboration with licensing for iTunes to have the greatest band of all time available to their customers =). And so true that it’ll help to keep them in our hearts and each next generation’s hearts and on and on…..when you hear that music can be timeless it’s just never more true than with The Beatles~♥. It’s depressing that record stores here are so obsolete now =(. Used to be a time when you could peruse the aisles and just look at album covers endlessly….

The latest playlist I made thm has the song Help! From Love as the opening song! I also have several songs from Jasmine’s Gold CD in there too. I really love her!

Regular record stores are pretty much gone now. Even Walmart and Target are pretty meager pickings excepts for the most current poppy stuff. Even MB is going digital! ^^

I was so happy when I found out that you are a huge Beatles fan too! ❤ And you worked in a record store, back in the day! What knd of store is the building were your record store was?

        Hugs to you!

        • I just noticed that WP is highlighting the author now…at first when I saw that on my phone I didn’t notice the light blue color….I think it’s a nice feature just so that I can find my ramblings much quicker =).

Mmm..I still love having the actual release in hand like with jacket art and packaging….just makes it seem so much more special and collectible that way but I understand how the digital age is so popular now, maybe just not quite for me just yet. Seeing music stores vanish is really sad…like you can no longer peruse aisles of music @ leisure just looking for something to catch your eye that way or just to see an array of music in physical form…..sad about that =(!

U~n but it was from an older friend’s recommendation that my love for the Beatles~♥ came to be…..like I would like to think that I’d eventually had found them and yet you know you can never be so sure. I miss having real record stores here a lot…..you know I’m not sure what it turned into now I just remember it being vacant for quite awhile…sad to see it abandoned =(.
