~MorningBerryz in latest issue of NEO magazine~ ♥

~Today (December 3rd, 2009) is a most *special* day for MorningBerryz~(人∀`*)♥!!!A~h (._.;) okay I was having a bit of trouble with the title~…and how to say it here・゜・(ノД`)・゜・。

~Today I'm so very humbled o(*´∀`)o゛to be thanked in Spencer Peet's idol/gravure idol article in the latest issue of "Neo" Magazine~!!! This began awhile back when I was first contacted by Mr. Spencer Peet in regards to his writing of an article which would present a most well covered and explanatory~ understanding of the idol/gravure idol genre and how it relates so much to Japan's culture and its inner workings~. Here Mr. Spencer Peet has produced a most *wonderful* article which sheds so much light on the genre in explaining it's place in society, the fan♥base and how it can potentially lead to other most *dreamed* of careers~ in the entertainment industry…he writes so articulately~ ^ ^。

~At the end of the article I'm mentioned by Mr. Spencer Peet as a "* special thank you~*" o(*´∀`)o゛….if possible please look for the latest issue of "Neo" magazine ^ ^!It is a UK publication and some places in London mentioned by Paul Thomas @ Hello!Blog are also noted in this article. よろしくお願いします~!っo(*´∀`)o!

~To be mentioned in a magazine….a~h me so undeserving I wonder?…and yet so humbled and *happy*~! *Thank you* so much Mr. Spencer Peet~! 今日は~。。。本とに本とに嬉しいです!!!(*´艸`)♥♥♥

The original files sent to me were so very large…and yet they shrink down so much when placed here~ (・д・`*)!。。。

To be able to see article very clearly please *click~* twice on each one to isolate the image of the article onto a clear white screen background….and your mouse pointer~ on your screen should then show a tiny magnifying glass which you can then use to enlarge in order to be able to read Spencer Peet's article with just one more *click~*! o(*´∀`)o゛♥♥♥

I'm so glad you too are getting into AKB48. I love everything about them. They're pure entertainment!!! Although it's pretty impossible for me to pick one member as my personal favourite, I can name my top five: They are Haruna Kojima, Yuko Oshima, Minami Takahashi, Atsuko Maeda and Sae Miyazawa (a little predictable, perhaps), although, like your friend, I too like Megumi Ohori. I like them all for different reasons. They all have their own wonderful personalities.

I think you learn so much about their individual personalities through watching their variety shows ne~…I really would love to watch some of them too~. CK♥ has been teaching me all about AKB with mini lessons that he's sending me and I'm trying to soak it all in even though I'm such a new fan to them~ ^ ^。A~h! thank you for *sharing* your favorites and I'm going to check their photos and profiles now~…I always love seeing everyone's favorite♥ members in a group o(*´∀`)o゛CK♥ is really sweet* and wonderful…I'm sure you'll get along so well speaking about AKB with him~! Oh, you are too kind, Berryz – I'm sure you'd say that even if I looked like the back end of a bus 🙂 I don't know whether to keep my hair long or have it cut short actually; guess us guys should listen to you gals more often. After having watched so many episodes of AKBINGO, I guess you do get to see the personalities of all the different members. I kinda get the feeling that the older members get most of the attention because when they reach a certain age they go on to other things or join SDN48 and the younger ones take their position and the spotlight – makes sense really. Their music and videos are great. I haven't been this excited about a band for ages.

  34. E~h?!!! (・д・`*) I was really being honest~ (*´∀`*) Hmm..the longer hair can suit many guys I think~…going by your previous photo I think you'd look perfect for the longer style~ ^ ^。The graduation process is always so interesting with idol groups~…and while I'd love that all idols do pursue further careers in the genre~ I know that some perhaps grow to have other goals and interests after their initial experience~. With AKB again their so unique in that it doesn't only have to be a solo career like in Hello! Project as SDN48 is perfectly set for the graduating members if they choose to further pursue a spotlight although from what CK♥ says…in a much more mature fashion~! And in this way the group never really ends ne~….Tsunku really first pioneered this idea I think for idol groups in Japan~, assuring that Momusu would still be around this many years later~. From what little I know so far….AKB is truly~ *amazing* with all they do…I so agree~ ^ ^!

Yes, AKB are very unique, I think. Do you have any of their CDs? They have made so many good songs it would be hard to chose any favourites. Howvever, these three I really like: 'Namida Surprise'; 'Baby Baby Baby'; 'Keibetsu Shiteita Aijou' – the girls' outfits in the excellent video are really cool!!! I can tell you absorb things like a spunge, Berryz,so I'm sure your knowledge on the band will be rather impressive in no time.

    Hi MB,
Sorry I haven't left a comment for awhile. Loving your blog though, especially now you are acknowledging the fantastic AKB48 – Haruna Kojima is definitely my favourite member. Anyway, the English-language Japanese pop show J-Melo, shown every Monday on NHK World, will be holding, for the first time in the UK, a fan meeting in London this coming Sunday (4 July) for a select few, and I am delighted to be one of the lucky ones. Singer/Songwriter Ai Takekawa will be performing as well as chatting to fans of the show and the event will be featured on the show sometime after. Being a writer I have asked them if I can interview Ai for a possible article, perhaps for NEO or a music mag. I have been adviced by J-Melo staff to speak to one of the organisers on the day to make sure it'll be OK. So I am now compiling some questions to ask her. Is there a particular question(s) you would like me to ask on your behalf? I'll be happy to ask questions on behalf of your friends or readers of your blog too. I'm sure it's going to be a fantastic afternoon with everyone discussing J-Pop.

  45. Hi~* I figured you were most busy =)!! U~n I've really gotten in them more and more although I still haven't learned everyone's nicknames yet! Kojiharu is awesome!!….I'm sort of Yukorin obsessed (*≧▽≦)♪。。。wow that sounds amazing~* and J~culture is spreading globally more and more each day! Takekawa Ai….I'm not familiar with her is she of the pop genre? ….watching her pv for "Tooi michi no saki de"…she reminds me a bit of Hikki she has a similar tone in her vocals~. Really catchy~* song!! That's awesome that she writes her own music too. Hmm….I think it would interesting to ask her how her interaction has been with fans internationally as compared to those in Japan? I'm sure the dynamic is so different….wondering now has she toured a lot outside of Japan? I guess this question would only be relevant if she has. Have a wonderful time on the 4th of July sounds like it'll be a lot of fun ^ ^!!

Hi MB – I have been rather busy. Just completed two articles on wagashi; one is for NEO which will be published end of August. RE: Ai Takekawa, she is a new act who appeared on the J-Pop scene for the first time last year. She also appears regularly on the English-language Japanese music show J-Melo (shown internationally on NHK WORLD) as an interviewer – hence why she will be performing in London tomorrow for the J-Melo fan meeting. I've included your questions on my list. Fingers crossed they'll allow me to interview her and get some cool shots. If I do you'll be the first to know. AKB are just fab, aren't they. I can see why you like Yuko, she has a lovely fun personality. She's probably my second favourite along with Minami Takahashi. They've just performed in LA, can't wait for them to come to the UK.

  47. You're a wonderfully talented writer~* and I'm happy that you're continuing to write about your passion and interest in J~music♥ =). Oh that'd be so exciting~* if you get to interview her!!! I hope~* everything works out great and I think I'm actually a bit late in saying as I know you're way ahead of Hawaii so the event may have already occurred? Thank you for including my question…very thoughtful of you. I'm just liking them more and more the more I hear and see of AKB…really the very best idol♥ group today ^ ^。It's really much more of Yukorin's candid footage which gets me the most but then whenever I hear her sing and recently with a solo song too she's just so amazing~* and Mmm…adorable times a thousand! Ohh that's so awesome you like Yuko too yay \(^o^)/☆!!。。。Takamina is awesome too and in many ways I think she's so much one of their strongest vocalists~*. Ugh!! still depressed about that (ノロ≦。)!!!AKB seems to be going out to conquer the world so a UK event may be coming soon ^ ^。

Hi MB, Thanks for your very kind comment above – you're very sweet!!! I like your profile photo – looks like it could easily be a J-Pop album cover. Can you sing? Maybe you should consider becoming an idol 🙂 Talking of J-Pop, I saw Ai Takekawa at the J-Melo UK fan meeting in London last Sunday (4 July). Had a totally excellent time. Because it was being filmed for a future edition of the show there was a lot of stopping and starting. Ai is really lovely and has a great voice – it was great to hang out and chat with her inbetween takes. She interviewed everyone one-by-one about what they like about Japanese music, and I guess they'll use snip-bits for the show. Fingers crossed they'll use a bit of mine as I hope I said some interesting things, also said one of my favourite acts is AKB48. We had to learn a few dance-hand moves so when they played a couple of videos we were being filmed along with it. One special suprise was a pre-recorded message from Morning Musume (I thought of you then) followed by one of their music videos which we had to move to (they were wearing blue one-piece boiler-type suits). It was good fun!!! At the end Ai personally signed copies of her CD for everyone which I thought was a nice touch. But the cherry on the cake for me was I was allowed a 10 minute interview with her, which was very insightful. Her manager gave me his card so I could let them know if and when the interview will be published. It wasn't until after that I realised her father is Yukihide, who was and I think still is, the lead singer for the 70s-80s band Godiego who wrote and performed the theme tune to the classic Japanese TV series Monkey (aka Monkey Magic and Saiyuki). The series was the first time I was introduced to Japanese pop music and it's still remains one of my all-time favourite TV series – I loved it as a kid and still do. I couldn't believe it!! Can't wait to see the actual J-Melo London special on NHK, which I think will be shown in a couple of weeks. Sorry for writing so much, I just wanted to let you know how it went. Will write more later. BTW: The camera man filming the event, who is English, told me that he had just recently filmed AKB48 for NHK. He said how unusual it was to see a whole stage covered with girls all singing together. Also told the producer of J-Melo that they should do an AKB48 special.

  49. Wow! sounds like the event went very well!! And I'm so happy you were able to speak with her and it must be exciting to know that this will be aired in the future. Oh I hope~* your on the program and so awesome you mentioned AKB♥!!! A~h Momusu was in France for their anime expo I think on the very same day they had a concert? Oh so there were other artists being promoted there too which is really great! Right now it seems that J~pop is making large strides and so much of an effort to gain fans worldwide. That's so awesome!!! as at most events you always hear that only some attendees get autographs so for her to sign for everyone is really special~*! I'm not familiar with him but it's an amazing connection to have sounds like you got such a kick out of this revelation =)! I hope~* they do as the more AKB love the better and maybe they'll travel next to the UK to meet fans and spread the uniqueness of their idol format there. Oh no yabai~ (*>ω<)!!。。singing is something I can only do while alone in the shower XD..I'm not very good.

Having AKB48 come to the UK would be just the best thing. Mind you, Mr. Akimoto could test the waters by bringing over the sub-group No Sleeves (aka No 3b) as a way of informing people of AKB48 – at least I'll still get to see Haruna 🙂 It would be fantastic if they were to make an appearance at one of the London Expo's.
I know the band Godiego, which Ai Takekawa's father is a member of because of the late 70s Japanese TV series called Monkey; it was so loopy but such good fun. I have the series on DVD and still get pleasure from watching it for the hundereth time. I treasure my original vinyl copy of the single which sits proud on my writing desk. I've always loved the closing theme tune, Gandhara, which was also performed by Godiego (second link):

BTW: Did you receive the photos I sent you of Ai Takekawa? I've been told people haven't been receiving my emails – may have a slight problem with my server.

  51. Does London have an annual Anime Expo or maybe a Japan Expo event?…I'm thinking it's the same as you're mentioning here and seeing that AKB has also been to New York not too long ago I'm thinking their next international event will surely be overseas maybe in Europe…also with Momusu just going to France maybe they can see the turn out and use that as a measuring of the audience of J~Pop there. It's like Momusu as they've been active so much longer than AKB have a much larger international fanbase although AKB is so so popular in Japan but surely I think they'll continue to reach out to other markets to spread their music and love! Thank you~* for the links!!! Wow that's so awesome that you were watching then and now knowing of this connection to Takekawa Ai, even more amazing~*! Oh did you send them to my old address? I stopped using Yahoo mail after Vox was having issues sending my notifications on time although I'm not really sure of what the reason was for that happening but still I changed to Gmail instead as it seems to work much better and faster with updates…sorry! I hope I gave you the address. Please let me know if I didn't.

@Span: Wow. You seem to be a walking encyclopedia of J-pop information. Do you blog anywhere? … Saw AKB48 at Anime Expo 2010 on July 1 and they gave what I consider to be one of the greatest perfs in history at the Nokia Theater after their amazing "red carpet" entrance with Takahashi, Ono and Sayaka practically kissing my camera lens. I've seen them 4 times at the Don Quijote and the world will likely never see a group that spectacular ever again. A supergroup. Now, Morning Musume is no slouch, either. They were at Anime Expo 2009 and were mind-blowing — a show comparable to AKB48 a year later. Both are once-in-a-lifetime shows, to be sure. http://www.bloggerparty.com/blog/yankeeotaku
