Jeff Gordon wins the 1st Gatorade duel at Daytona!…and now the starting lineup is set. ^ ^

First I love his new paint scheme!! Jeff Gordon ended up in victory lane when the first of two Gatorade duels saw its checkered flag wave and while it's not a points race is does give the six time winner at Daytona International Speedway a great starting spot inside the second row for the great American race this Sunday! \(^o^)/☆

The race starting grid for NASCAR's biggest race of the season which unlike other sports kicks off each new season rather than ending it, has a most unique format in that only the first row (starting spots 1 & 2) are determined during pole qualifying day. Later in the week (today) the rest of the field is set by the traditional running of two separate Gatorade duel races which essentially split the field giving odd and even (inside & outside row spots) numbered spots a chance to race for their starting spot for the Daytona 500. So in the first duel all inside row spots (starting spots 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, etc…up until 39th) are set by the races's finishing order up until the 39th spot where driver provisionals prevail for the last four spots: 40th – 43rd. And the second duel's results set the starting order for the entire outside row as in starting spots 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, etc….up until 38th.

Ugh!….sorry! XD……..Kyle Busch won the second duel………………..(slight smile…. 🙂 ) And while the draft and Daytona along with 500 miles have proven year after year just how little the starting grid can mean often times at restrictor plate race tracks, here is the Daytona 500 starting lineup for February 15th! Good luck to everyone who entered for the Berryz Koubou single giveaway~! ^ ^ And of course my favorites to win!…um slightly biased picks though! XD…..let's see…

Although I am not a NASCAR's fan but I am a motorsport fan so I really admire your dedication! My thing is Formula 1 :p, and Super GT.Happy Racing!

  2. Hmmm…I do think that we're still one happy racing family of fans~! Ah we love cars so we definitely have that in common. =) I seem to meet more F1 fans here occasionally…..I guess I'm a minority when it comes to NASCAR and especially here in Hawaii. I guess I'm sort of odd in this way. XD Hopefully it's a good odd though. 😛 I hope you can root for your favorite drivers too! Jeff Gordon looked so happy in victory lane even though it wasn't a points race….still he hasn't won in awhile including all of last season for the first time since I think it was early in his career.
