I have to start with Final Fantasy VIII. It’s has by far my favorite FF theme song with “Eyes on Me.” Not necessarily the best of the series game wise but I sure really did ♥ it playing for hours into days into weeks. ^ ^ The storyline was no doubt engaging and the characters really grew on you in time in such a real way but it’s this theme song “Eyes on Me” which wins me over unanimously. I had actually never heard Faye Wong sing before playing this game but as soon as I heard the song I had to go out and purchase the CD single…and later the soundtrack as well!
Okay this is a bit of an older photo of Faye Wong but I just thought that she looked so gorgeous here! 😛
~Faye Wong “Eyes on me” mp3~
Her vocals are so beautiful and unique…sweet and silky smooth…lol I can’t think of any other way to describe them at the moment! I was just watching this live clip of Faye Wong at Budoukan…really a great performance!!…
~Faye Wong “Eyes on me” live @ Budoukan (video)
…and I love how the large screen in the background is showing scenes from the game itself. Really moving and nostalgic…reminds me of when I was sort of obsessed while playing. =) FF has always had great “leading” ladies and Rinoa is definitely one the most memorable.
“Aerith’s theme” may be instrumental but this melody is probably the most memorable of all FF themes for me personally (Uematsu Nobuo is an amazing composer!)…….I mean I was really depressed when Aerith died. It’s funny, I became so attached to these characters and really I did not see that coming! :O To have one of your main characters killed and so suddenly and by such evil….lol okay it’s just a game but really at times you can become engulfed in them and Aerith really did matter. Sepiroth!! >_< Hey does anyone remember that “date” scenario?…where as Cloud you could choose either Aerith or Tifa?…anyway I hope you chose Aerith, otherwise she may have never gone out on a single date…so sad!
~FFVII “Aerith’s Theme” mp3~
And if you returned to the church where you first met towards the end……Aerith’s ghost appears briefly.
FFVII remains as my favorite in the series…I think I spent the most time addicted to this one! ^ ^
“Melodies of Life”, performed by Shiratori Emiko is such a beautiful ballad with really touching lyrics. It wasn’t immediately a favorite theme but as all FF games seem to do…in time you become so attached and it’s definitely one of my favorites. Shiratori Emiko was a totally new artist to me and I just love her voice…there’s a really memorable nuance to her style and she does this song wonders.
First the “Nihongo Version”…..
~Shiratori Emiko “Melodies of life” (Japanese ver.) mp3~
…and here’s the “Eigo version.” Her pronunciation of English is immaculate!
~Shiratori Emiko “Melodies of life” (English ver.) mp3~
FFIX is a very close 2nd to FFVII when it comes to my personal favorites in terms of the game and storylines. “Princess Garnet” (aka “Dagger”) and “Zidane” were such well developed characters and totally endearing as you followed them through the game and truly FFIX has such a fun and wild assortment of characters to enjoy! This ending was such pure ♥! One of the best endings really! ^-^
“Kiss Me Good-bye” performed by Angela Aki is such a bitter sweet and powerful mid tempo ballad! Angela Aki really took the J-Pop world by storm and this track remains as my favorite although she has sooo many great songs to challenge for that spot on her albums and other singles!
~Angela Aki “Kiss me good-bye” mp3~
I love this music video so much too and yet again there’s great game cg footage intertwined along with the music video. Angela Aki’s performance on piano is breathtaking and she performs this song so amazingly live!
I loved FFX much better!!….but FFX-2 did produce a “Yuna” mini album along with Rikku and Paine. And here Aoki Mayuko sings a wonderful song titled “Kimi e.” I’d write more but it’s getting late! Work is at 3 a.m. tomorrow! >_<

Awesome Final Fantasy Collage of videos, music, and images!

Love FFVIII too! Quistis was sort of like a great role model and Rinoa was definitely my favorite character too….vulnerable but strong at the same time. ^ ^ I love that video collage playing behind Faye Wong during her performance at Budoukan…really brings back a lot of fond memories. :)Me too! I first heard Angela Aki when "Kiss Me Good-bye" was released as a single tie in with FFXII. And she's going to perform on the Kouhaku again this year yay! ^o^

I mentioned this on my IW write up, but I was surprised not to see Suteki Da Ne up here. Like you mentioned, I also enjoyed FFX a lot better than X-2, and I guess I haven't really listened to the X-2 soundtrack… I'm pretty sure that I cried during the ending movie for FFX when I first beat it. Oh, was that ever heart wrenching…

Thank you so much maiZe! ^ ^ I can't remember how I missed purchasing her single…I'm sort of dumbfounded now as it really was an endearing part of FFX. Me too, I know that the storyline was hinting at it but I just kept thinking there's going to be a happy ending for Tidus and Yuna. 😦 I love that fans upload personal versions of the ending movies along with music as it's really nostalgic to watch these and it takes me back to playing them for hours upon hours. I haven't had too much time lately and my thumb injury actually prevents me from using a control properly right now but when FFXIII comes out I know I'll be right back into it! ^-^ Oh I didn't even know that some fans didn't like the change in the game's system and I remember finding some really good places with a save sphere where you could gain so much points to level up….that part could be mind numbing though as I'd be in the same place for about two days before moving on. 😛 My fear is really to arrive at the ending and then not be able to finish because I didn't level up enough so I have a sort of obsession with overly leveling up sometimes it seems. I think it was "Parasite Eve" but I never finished because I was awful when I got to the end and it was just impossible….but then I would've had to start so far back to fix it so I um…gave up. 😛 Hmmm…Squall or Tidus? Squall was definitely a bit more gritty and mysterious…lol I'd add Zidane in too but he had a tail! 😛 Rinoa and Dagger are my favorites for role model types…strong minded characters with a lot of conviction. My first was FFVII too…I remember a friend convincing me that it was the reason to purchase a Playstation and I thought…okay! 🙂 It's good that you watched the endings with your brother as they really make the whole experience so rewarding and exciting, just to see how everything's going to end. FFXI was online right? and I didn't have any way to get connected that way back then so I was sort of sad that they made the game that way without an offline version as well for the primitives like me. 😛 Thank you maiZe! and I just learned that Angela Aki will also be on the Kouhaku again this year…wondering what she'll perform but in any case she's really amazing live! ^ ^

I just have to tell you that I literally cracked up reading "Hmmm…Squall or Tidus? Squall was definitely a bit more gritty and mysterious…lol I'd add Zidane in too but he had a tail!" because that was my main issue with Zidane. Him and Garnet were so cute too, but… THE TAIL… I was never able to get past the tail. XD But I have to say that Squall beats them all out for me, His hotness and mysteriousness kill me. And by the end he was an absolute sweetheart to Rinoa. ❤

I think I just had a moment there!…but the tail really is difficult to get by. I was just thinking though, with a tail you'd always know his emotions. 😛 So true and I love how the storyline really flushed out Squall's true feelings. In so many ways "Eyes on Me" lyrically really said so much about him and Uematsu Nobuo wrote the most touching melody. I just never tire of this song ever!Luckily they just did that for that one series but it left sort of a void for awhile as I had nothing to do….. 😛 I have a lot of friends who love online games and most of them play the XBox though…it's just not for me.

I have to say that it does look like you like your FF (^_^) Great collection of videos and pictures by the way! I'm a fan of FF, not that I play it all that often. I too, it seems, started off with VII 😀 My friend had it and I swear we played it for days straight. I was sad when they had to move, I lost a good friend (and a really good game XD)I remember the first ever PS2 game I ever bought with my very own money was FFX. It's very sentimental to me :D. Loved, love, it! Although I haven't played it in ages….. I sort of got stuck and couldn't figure a way through it. It really bugged me that I let the game beat me.I really want to get 'em all just because they're great to play, but I only have so much money I can spend 😦 hehe.

When I had more time I used to be absolutely obsessed! =) I used to work a night shift and when I got home at about 1 a.m. in the morning I would then lock myself in my room so as to not disturb anyone else and I'd stay up and play until the sun rose…..and on weekends it was much the same minus the work part~! ^o^ If I had a refrigerator and a shower in my bedroom I probably wouldn't have left the room for days~~~! I'm so sorry….did you not get to finish the game? I'm sorry about your friend moving too…..ah that may have sounded a bit cold there.
I think you should try FFX again as I know it would mean a lot to reach the end and unlock the final movie….Mmmmm the game is calling you from your bedroom…. ^ ^ I used to collect the figures, tapestries, and statues too……I really am obsessed~! I need help! 😛

Hmmm, I do beleive I hear it calling! ^ ^You didn't sound cold, it was a while ago so it's all good 😀 I've had the "locked-in-room-untill-I-finish-the-game" adventure, it wasn't pretty 😛 Yeah, I didn't finish it, I got stuck on one of the boss battles. And if you find anyone who can help you, let me know. I might use their services as well ^o^

LOL I can sure get carried away when I'm really engrossed in something and FF just has a way of endearing you so much to the characters and story that I just need to see what happens next in the storyline! ^ ^ I keep thinking just one more hour….one more…..okay last one……and 8-12 hours later I still haven't left the room. =) It may have been cheating but I used to find an ideal save spot with enemies that give you lot so experience points and just stay there for hours….lol sometimes days powering up each member of my party until it made facing the next bosses much easier. 😛 That sounds way to obsessed doesn't it! Awwwww…..okay~! (leaves to attend next FF Anonymous meeting…..)

I do that, stay in one spot and just battle and battle to get higher levels 😀 So no, it's definitely not cheating =D And what's life without a bit of obsession? 😛

XD The repetition is most likely a mind numbing experience but I can't help myself it seems! =)Ah~! oh no you lost your memory card??? 😦 But the ending for FFX is so amazing and totally worth working your way up to…..but to have to start from the beginning again is quite a lot to ask. >_<; Gambatte ne~! ^ ^

For Tidus & Yuna…..(sigh…) and I'm now trying to picture the early stages of the game like when they first meet and how protective everyone is of her throughout their long journey. If I remember correctly there was a really great power up area near a save sphere just before you head in to rescue Kimari, I remember it being on a long indoor bridge…."Kimari?" I hope I'm spelling his name right…the fuzzy tall one with the spear! ^o^ I played through FFVII 2 and a half times and when I went back to replay it I changed all of the character's names into my favorite Japanese actors & actresses names. Strange I know! 😛

FFVIII for Squall definitely!!! He’s one of the most cool and gritty characters in the series I think!..and he definitely has sex appeal LOL I know he’s not real =P! VIII has one of the best stories and also one of the very best ending CG movies of them all. Squall and Rinoa…sigh….♥ =). FFX is great too with Tidus and Yuna being such engaging central characters…I didn’t get much into the side tournament games and all but the main story-line and game-play are top notch if not heart wrenching. I used to collect FF figures all those years ago and it’s amazing how many are out there with newly issued ones appearing even years after each game’s release…still of course it’s FFVII which continues to enjoy the greatest longevity in those terms too ^^.
In “short”…definitely play them all!~!

Squall is pretty cool. I first met him in Kingom Hearts and later saw the difference between him in the KH series and the actually game. I actually played as him in Final Fantasy Fighting spinoff game called Dissida for PSP. He is cool with the gunblade. Tidus was also interesting and I heard some people have mixed feelins with the side missions. That is cool you collected figures. I would also but there is one issue…money. They are so pricey >_<

Wow did not know that Squall was in a fighting game =)!! Kingdom Hearts is a really expansive and amazing game and so fun how they’d managed to merge Disney along with so many favorite role playing characters of note. In FFX for the most part you’re not required to participate in those side games with only part of it being essential in continuing the game-play =). I think you’ll really love Yuna’s character so much as the Tidus/ Yuna dynamic continues to grow throughout the game….FFX featured some of the largest figurines I’ve seen which are so detailed and are rather like statues than figures with the exception of Tidus with all of his moving limbs and parts and they’re really well made I must add….still oh yes they were painfully expensive back then to collect and I actually found them as imports at one of our now sadly closed gaming/fantasy stores….I think the store clerks thought I was out of my mind when I grabbed the three main characters to purchase =P! But it’s one of those situations where you just know that if you were to procrastinate they’d then be all gone on your next visit there =(. The FFVII series released these really incredible solid resin statues awhile back too so they’re definitely not of the toys category…I ended up getting the statues of Aerith, Tifa and Sepiroth and an alternate version of Cloud with his trusty Daytona bike and that gigantic sword of his ^^.

That is so cool, I wish I had Cloud with his bike. Never miss an opportunity when shopping, it will be worth it. I am still surprised that two companies like Disney and Final Fantasy can come together and make a game.

Such a smart business move for both and with such a varied catalog of characters and resources it’s no wonder how they’ve been so successful together.

I know right. It is probably because Disney cartoons are very close to our childhood and the experience of being able to interact with them is the best part. Also with the FF series, it helps make a unique story that can relateable such as light vs darkness. If it wasn’t for Kingdom Hearts, I would never know who is Cloud and the other characters xD

U~n I’ve been collecting Disney movies all of my life it seems and with Kingdom Hearts you get to see them in such a different light. Again it was pure genius to merge those two vastly different worlds together and YES so true how it can create new fans of characters along the way in a most unique fashion ^^.

I pretty much grew up with Disney movies. My all time favorite film was The Lion King. Just being able to visit the Disney worlds in Kingdom Hearts was my greatest pleasure. My childhood was my playground and grew up with me ^_^

Mmm….let’s see my Disney favorites include of the top of my head: Yes The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Alice in Wonderland, The LIttle Mermaid, Toy Story (all of them!), Mulan, Finding Nemo, The Fox and the Hound and this could go on and on….luckily my parents would buy for me even the older titles which otherwise I would have never seen and well just too many to mention! Oh and it may be silly to say but add Frozen to that list~♥ ^^….I mean who doesn’t love Frozen!
