“Texas Hold ‘Em”, Hello! Project style!

Earlier this year a couple of fan made H!P playing card sets appeared and it really brought up the idea of what if there were actual UFA produced playing card sets as this indeed sounds like an item that would hold great popularity amongst fans. Paul at Hello!Blog finds the most amazing items while searching the net and a little over a week ago he discovered 3 official sets! What's amazing is that these sets were produced way back in 2003 and yet have remained a well hidden treasure these past years. They really do exist!! 🙂 While I chose the Momusu set if you check Paul's post which I've linked above you'll see that the other 2 sets offered from this seller include a deck featuring the last lineup of Tanpopo & Minimoni, Melon Kinenbi, and Country Musume and another featuring Yukosan, Ayaya, Atsuko, and Gocchin all with a Hello! Project theme to them.

This Momusu set arrived completely sealed in brand new condition but of course I had to open it up to see how they chose to style the cards as I was quite curious. The card holder has a bit of a different design as it opens from the side instead of from the top and every card's backing bears the Morning Musume logo along with a pretty flower design.

Here's the complete 54 card deck which includes 2 Jokers which have been designed with Hello! Project's cute logo. Each member is represented on a suit's upper ranking card from Ace to Jack and since the current Momusu lineup at the time of this deck's production included 15 members the Ace of Spades is represented by its own suit design. It looks like Minimoni holds rank here as Marippe, Aibon, and Nono are the other 3 Aces! The overall design of this deck is well thought out and produced in a stylish manner that would help bring extra life and fun to any card game party! Hmmm…though something has me a bit worried that at some point Aichan's Jack of Clubs may go missing if fellow H!P fans are present at the game! :O Ah and then there's also the dilemma of possibly keeping a card in one's hand because she's your favorite member despite the fact that you don't need the card or odds are it won't help you. 😛 And no matter which suit you're after with success you'll be holding the cutest royal flush, full house, or flush out there! And at some point Aibon, Nono, & Mikitty's may be wild…no one eye Jacks available tonight for this game!

Ah but with just one deck available for play, this Momusu deck surely will never see a poker table. 🙂

This is a great set! I noticed how they were seperated into ranks – (as you noted) minimoni as the aces, the new recruited 6th gen. members holding the king spot with their leader, the 5th gen. as the jacks and the last 4 in the middle as queens! Miki looks very pleased with her rightful place as "Queen".

I think that you will have much more fun out of the decks if you play them.

  3. mizunohi it's funny that at first I didn't notice the pattern but after realizing that Minimoni were the Aces I found it wonderful that they purposely placed the members on particular ranking cards. What I'm thinking now is that if they ever release an updated deck they could give all 52 cards a member if they included every member, group, and even the Eggs too! In fact that may be too many members and not enough cards to go around! I just noticed that one of the ads below (although they change all the time) is for a site called http://www.Make-A-Deck.com, hmmm maybe I should create my own updated H!P deck of cards though I do wonder if they'll allow it using official photos.

  4. Radicalipton the link above is to Paul's original post and he has the seller's address there. I'm not totally sure but they may have had only 1 available deck for each design.

  5. xmangerm I'm really torn between preserving them or using them in card games…ah I really wish they had another deck available as that would easily solve this dilemma.

I was looking at the make-a-deck and it seems really easy to use! The problem is that $50 is a quite a lot to spend if you want to use the deck for actual play… ^^;; It does allow for you to upload any picture from file, so you could make a H!P deck!
It'd be great to see a full H!P deck – eggs included! Who would be your aces? I'd have Koharu(diamonds), Gakisan(clubs), Nacchi(hearts) and Gomaki(spades). ~~Mikitty, Aya, Yuko and Tanakachii would make perfect Queens!

  7. Wow that's quite expensive for a deck of cards but I wonder after you've paid this fee if they'd allow you to make duplicate copies of the deck for a lesser amount…or is it $50 per deck even if they're the same. If I could make multiple decks I think I'd seriously consider doing this and send some to friends while of course keeping at least 2 so that I could use one of them without worrying. 🙂 Aces would have to be some my favorite H!P members from the various groups and solo artists…I think I'd go with: Risakochan as the Ace of Hearts, Nacchi as the Ace of Diamonds, Maimichan as the Ace of Clubs and Kamei as the Ace of Spades!

  9. Mikey thank you for the links! It's really amazing how popular poker has become everywhere! For awhile a few friends an I would play quite frequently on the weekends. I'm not familiar with Marie Digby and will have to watch the clips. Have a great new years celebration! 🙂

the clubs are a strong suit :P…I dont think I could give them up to be honest, which brings home the dilema of keeping and wanting your fave members, not the actual numbers or suits. I think that issue you pointed out would be a serious issue if you got MM fans together for a game or two XD.
Great find Paul! and good buy Morningberryz!

  12. wu-san if you and I played cards we'd end up with no hands but all of our favorite members! 😛 And then fight over Kamei's card! :O I'd really like to get another deck but unfortunately they only had one of this type. It's amazing that it was kept sealed for all of these years and as you can see I couldn't resist and opened it up right away! 😛 I owe getting this deck all to Paul!

that's very true…and surely the fight over Kamei-chan would be a fierce one 😛 Although if you really have to have that card…I will settle for Takitty. Unless I already have her card which would be win-win.
Ah I'd open the cards too…too curious. Tsunku should do the card sets again, as it would give H!P nice reasons to have more photo shoots, and the differening decks that could come out semi-regularly with the shoots would be a nice thing to collect. Maybe do four decks a year? one for each season? with shoots to go with each season.

  14. If they ever do make card decks again the one thing that I hope that they do differently is have a member on ever card. Chinamichan & Kumachan can be the Jokers! 🙂 Seasonal photo shoots is a great idea as the style of the decks can be made to reflect the time of year along with each member's wardrobe. It's puzzling that they never returned to the idea of having these as a part of their regular merchandise.

A member on each card would be something. I suppose for now those fan-cards you posted about awhile ago will be the closest thing to that. And Chii-chan and Kumachan would suit those jokers hehe.
It is a little puzzling why they haven't gone back to the cards…but then I suppose it isn't essential for H!P to have them, and maybe it's all just after thoughts now…but it would be nice if they decided to do some more sets.
They need a Momusu game for the Wii right? 😛 could even throw in a soccer based Ongaku Gatas one…maybe after you score it slips into Karaoke mode? I dont know, haven't thought it through :S

  16. There was a site that was advertising here about a week ago at the bottom of the page and they specialize in custom card decks. But it's $50!! :O I'd be afraid to play with those cards for sure!"Karaoke Gatas!!!" I think you're onto something there! 😀 With all of the collaboration between Momusu and Nintendo's Wii on recent episodes of HM@ I would really love to see a game dedicated to them. A really long time ago Playstation had a Momusu game on their console so you never know! 🙂 Hmmm…but I wonder if I'd have to put some sort of chip into our console for it to play those Japanese Wii games.

$50 is too much! really, to play with especially. I suppose you could do single member decks. I'd love to just have a Kamei one for example…if you could find enough photo's you like of her.
Ah that's very true about the Nintendo Wii, that Momusu have already collaborated with them…and yes, who knows, maybe there's a chance then for a game. Maybe it's just dreaming but it'd be fun right? Ah I remember reading up on an MM game for the Playstation two awhile back and actually thought about buying it at one point…but then when I read more about the game, it didn't really sound that good, or like a game lol. Yep, you might need a chip to play the Japanese games if they did release a H!P one.

  18. Yes after hearing the cost I was quite turned away. But an all Kamei deck would be the best! I'd make an all Risakochan deck too with little "puyo puyo's" on the cards. 😛 I guess we both can dream…….Momusu for the Wii!! How about "Momusu Sports." Pick your favorite member and go head to head against your other favorite members. Or maybe create some Hello! Morning games for the Wii complete with batsu penalties! 😛 If they made them realistic then you'd have to pick Mikitty, Gocchin, or Konkon for sure! But then again Momo may be the cutest to play as your character!

  19. wu-san says:

haha, the puyo puyo touch for the Risako cards is a nice touch XD. I guess Kamei's cards could be backed with turtle design of a kind, maybe just the shell texture if you wanted? are we thinking too deeply about this now? lol.
Momusu sports would be great! sure you could create some good MM games :P. Yep, if they kept the character stats realistic, KonKon or Mikitty would be sure fire winners there…But I'd have to be Sayu, she's terrible at sports, but in such a kawaii way, it's really poetry in motion ^^.
Ah, that reminds me, I must watch that H!M episode where MM try and overcome their fears. Sayu trying to overcome her lack of sports skills is one of my all time fave H!M moments.

  20. Yes it's the two of us in our great imaginary H!P world! Risakochan's cards would have hearts for sure! Ah the other day my Momo shirt suffered a small stain on it and I'm praying that the Tide pen that I picked up works! :O Not really sure why I just mentioned that out of nowhere. 😛 Hahah if you played Sayu then I'd pick Kamei to challenge you! But if it's Wii Puyo Puyo then you know who's coming!! 😛 That was a great episode!!! Kohachan's was being a scaredy cat! I should watch it too!

Oooh, I hope that stain on your Momo shirt will come off. I can imagine how annoying that could be.
Wii Puyo Puyo sounds great, and you know Risako will buy a Wii just so she can beat her BK buddies at it. I think if I was a guest on Utaban – I'd be a mega star Idol of course XD – I'd admit to them that one of my dreams is to beat Risako at Puyo Puyo…maybe they could arrange a game for us?
haha, you know I still have not seen that H!M episode again after I mentioned it, as the time managed to invest itself on other things…But I'll try and give it a go before I hit the bed tonight. haha, yep, Koha and Reina got semi-hypnotised didnt they? for a haunted house if I remember correctly.

  22. Ah my happy yellow Momo shirt! :O Well it got a little lighter…maybe just one more application will do the trick! 🙂 Hahah be prepared for a Risakochan beat down!! 😛 She is freaquishly good at it I must warn you…I think I just made up a word there! Did you see Marippe and Kamei in the haunted house…not together but in separate episodes. That was the true meaning of fright!! :O

  23. wu-san says:

I dont remember Marippe and Kamei in the haunted house, but now I really want to see it :P. I thought Marrippe did great when Utaban set up a haunted house for ZYX, as she really showed her leadership qualities that time around. My god! I dont want to imagine Iida in a Haunted house.

  24. They really had some great reactions to all of the fright and while Marippe could light up the scream-o-meter, Kamei was scared beyond belief!! She was even more afraid then the time that Kohachan was shown the giant snake as her batsu penalty when they were playing that photo game at the zoo!! :O Kaorin would really be frightened!! :O

Kamei can actually be quite a wimp when she wants to be so I'm not suprised :P. I remember watching a recent haunted house segment and Takitty had the most god awful scream in the world. So much so, sometimes I refer to it when I need a comparison for something terrible. aww but bless her lol.

    Like

  26. Hah it was like that famous "Scream" painting!! Actually I'm not sure if that's its title. But I hope you know the one that I mean. Aichan and Marippe can have a haunted house scream-o-meter contest! Meanwhile Kamei will run away!! :O Have you had the chance to see Gocchin's "Futarigoto" episode? She's watching a scary movie and ends up scaring her cat and actually falls off of her bean bag chair! :O

  27. wu-san says:

haha! yes I think I know what you're on about, the one with the skull type face and the two hands on either side of the head?
Ah, we're coming up with all sorts of combinations for an imaginary haunted house XD. But I admit it's also fun lol. Aichan, Marippe and Kamei would be some combination. Although as we've proved – with Koha and Iida – you could come up with many combinations that would be terrible in a haunted house.
I've seen that Futarigoto – seems so long ago now – and Maki really isn't good with scary films. But are girls in general? it's cute though :P. Mind you, I'm not a big fan of scary films either, although they're fun to watch with friends. We'd usually try and predict all the scenes.

  28. That's the one! 🙂 I've seen a blow up cushion of it once…imagine taking that to the pool! :O Hmmm…the scariest movie that I've ever seen was the remake of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." Jessica Biel is really great in it but it haunted me for days afterwards. The great thing is that Gocchin says that she likes scary movies but her reaction makes me think that she should never watch them in theaters or she may frighten the other viewers in the audience as well!

A blow up cushion of it? dont think I'd like that to be honest 😛 I'll stick with arm bands.
Ah I've seen that film quite awhile ago now…well, I cant remember when I saw the remake now. I agree, it was pretty good. Not sure if it would haunt me for days afterwards though lol.
I think getting scares from a horror film is most of the fun, like a rollercoaster ride, so perhaps Gomaki showing fear is a good sign? haha.

  30. Haha it was a some sort of toy although I don't think a child would want it…might have nightmares! Ah I was really bothered after watching it and had that funny feeling where you start looking around your home because something may be there. :O I tend to stay away from rollercoasters, especially after seeing Final Destination…I think it was part 3? Hahah movies haunt me in real life afterwards but I still watch them anyway. 😛 Seeing Gomaki scream at the t.v. was quite something though! :O
