Harry Potter’s limited edition trunk delivers HD to your home!

Ah today was quite a busy day filled with errands including a long time spent at the post office along with a crowd of fellow last minute Christmas gift senders and when all was said and done I wasn't able to watch HM@ which I usually view on Tuesdays and that will have to wait till tomorrow as bedtime nears. With a short amount of time tonight I'd just like to share what a great product the Harry Potter series has produced in the form of a limited edition gift set which comes at a perfect time for the holidays. While the hard cover book trunk set was an very nice release, this DVD box set sets a whole new standard for American releases and shows that with the right amount of creativity and imagination a special release here in the U.S. can rival those released in Japan.

Originally when I first heard that the 5th installment in this beloved series, "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" was finally being released on DVD I was intending to purchase the individual HD DVD release of this movie as I already own the previous 4 films in the standard DVD format…that was until I saw this release which will provide a convenient and rewarding way to upgrade the previous 4 films while acquiring the latest release at the same time. This dream box set comes in the shape of Harry's trunk and the construction is both sturdy and aesthetically pleasing with the back hinges and front latch made of actual metal. Opening the trunk reveals a well thought out design which has each of the first five Harry Potter films housed in thick cases resembling books along with a bonus DVD with extras and an all new interactive DVD game. A nicely designed belt bearing the HP logo helps with the removal of the discs from the trunk.

Each movie's case has its own unique design pertaining to its particular novel and have been designed in two different sizes which increases after the second movie.

Upon a further look into the trunk you'll find an envelope nostalgically bearing Harry's address at Privet Drive which includes 16 trading cards which are wrapped in sets of 4 and includes the main characters in the series. But perhaps the most impressive extra included in this beautiful set are…

…the articulately designed custom bookmarks!! These 5 beautiful bookmarks which are shaped in symbolic and endearing images from the series come housed in a sturdy black box which sits at the bottom of this magnificent set! This limited edition HD DVD version can be purchased through Amazon.com at the currently discounted price of $104.95 and is also available in a standard DVD version which I've seen being sold for as low as $79.99 at retailers here in Hawaii. Interestingly the stores here aren't stocking the HD version which ultimately got me to check the Amazon site and with the shipping which was less than $3 it proves to be the best deal as you consider that an average new HD movie usually costs approximately $30 and here 5 HD movies which are included in this set run a cost of under $110 plus all of the extras and collectibles included makes this set a very smart buy. For anyone who doesn't own the first five films this set presents a great way to acquire them all and with the HD DVD version also being available, anyone looking to upgrade their collection will also find this set an impressive addition to their movie library and with all of the extras you really can't go wrong!

  2. yuki says:

Oh wow!!! This is soooo cool!! You're really a HP fan… hehe… You know something… HP stands for both Hello Project and Harry Potter… hahaha… What a coincidence…
Oooo… I saw the Harry Potter trunk set (books) last week at Kinokuniya… WOW!! It was like 100++ here… I think abt 150+… You're sooo lucky…
So many Christmas presents for you… =)
    Merry X'mas~

  3. aiLaMarie space is definitely becoming an issue as I think I may have just about maxed out the ways in which I can re-organize my room for more space. 😛 Ah but I just couldn't pass on this great set!

  4. The HP initials really have found a home in my heart! 🙂 It's funny that it worked out that way! Is Kinokuniya a Japanese goods store near to you? Ah it would appear that I've started Christmas a bit early… 😛

  5. snow-flower says:

    wow that's a nice collection:)

  6. Hotaru says:

Wow, thats a pretty intricate trunk! I didn't even know the DVD of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix came out, honestly XD This would be a great way to complete or start your collection of Harry Potter stuff!

  7. strawberriedoll I was so impressed when I opened up this set! A lot of thought and effort was put into its design and I wish more box sets were as creative as this one. I'm guessing that you're a Harry Potter fan too! 🙂

  8. Hotaru I'm planning on going through a few of the discs this weekend and first up will be "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" as I still haven't had a chance to see it. I rarely go to the theater lately so I usually end up waiting for the home releases to come out. Movie theater prices have gotten so high that I sometimes feel that it may be a better idea to just wait and own the movie instead.

  9. yuki says:

    Oh… Kino is this japanese bookshop… I wouldn't say it's near my house… hahaha… normally would take a train down , roughly abt a 30 minutes ride… =)
Hehe… Christmas… the best season of the year!!
    Merry Christmas~~

there is a Kino in New York City, i've been there before. They have recently moved to 6th ave. between 40th and 41st. from 49th St. There is also asahiya and book off as well. They may not have H!P stuff there all the time, but I do get the most current Japanese magazines from asahiya.I went to the book-off one week ago and I saw alot of H!P photobooks being sold second hand, I saw a Koharu one, a aichan one, kamei one, and a few more too.asahiya is on 45th and madisonbookoff is on 41st and 5th

  11. Ah 30 minutes isn't too long to travel to visit such a great shop! It's great that you have a specialty bookstore like this in your area. I love this time of year too and it's nearly arrived already!Merry Christmas to you Yuki! 🙂

  12. So Kino is a worldwide bookstore chain…thank you momo for the locations as anyone traveling to New York will find this information very useful. It's great to hear that H!P books are readily available in this area and quite a number of them. 🙂

  13. aiLaMarie says:

i thought so…you need another room now for your collection..i like them..they will be priceless in time..

  14. I wish I could build an extension so that a larger room could house everything. But then I may disappear into the new room for hours and hours and may not be seen for awhile coming out only to eat. 😛

  15. Hotaru says:

Movie prices really have gone up, haven't they? It's probably a good idea for me to start waiting to buy or rent the DVD when it comes out, like you do! I went to go see the Order of Phoenix in theaters since my little sister really wanted to see it, though 😛

  16. Hotaru the "movie theater" experience can still be an unmatched one but with all of the advances in home theater it really creates an incentive to watch movies at home and that along with skyrocketing ticket prices. I'm sure your sister loved seeing "the Order of the Phoenix" on the big screen along with a lively environment! 🙂

  17. W♥M says:

its a good thing you didn't get the bluray set – as apparently one of the disc is actually an hd-dvd :/vu

  18. That's really strange…I wonder why a HD DVD is included in the blu-ray set. The blu-ray players finally went on sale and are down to $279 versus their average price of almost $400 so I'm really tempted to get one now but the sale ends tomorrow so I'm not really sure if I should. I really wish there were just one format for these higher grade discs. The players that play both formats are still way too expensive to even consider! About $900 I think.

  19. tiggles says:

It amazes me how you can pay for all of your collections! Where do you get the money to pay for it all? Lucky // ❤

  20. Hmmm…I guess it's a combination of low living expenses, and being more or less a homebody which is very inexpensive. I'm also able to save money every payday which can come in really handy when you need it. Space is becoming an issue though as there's stuff everywhere! 😛
