Kotobukiya has produced a 1/8 scale pvc figure of BlancNeige who is one of the central characters in Sega's rpg "Shining Tears." While figures that I buy are usually from anime series that I've watched or from games that I've played I actually bought this figure without ever having played this Playstation 2 rpg. I just happened to see it one day on Cdjapan's main page and it's such an eye catching figure that I went ahead and pre ordered it without knowing anything about this character. Interestingly the voice actor who portrays her in the game is Hayashibara Megumi whom I am familiar with and I actually own an album of hers as well as a couple of her singles.
Kotobukiya is one of many premier manufacturers of high quality figures and in particular their pvc statues have always been immaculately detailed from every release that I've seen from them. The box that this figure came in is quite nice but as I am a collector's nightmare when it comes to these types of figures I always take them out of the box and display them. And since I have no intention whatsoever of selling them I usually throw the box away too! 😛 But I just may keep this one along with Yuna's FF X-2 box which I stored away awhile back. Keeping an empty box when the figure will never be placed back into it seems kind of silly and with space being tight I'm still not really sure if I'll keep it.
For now she has taken over Yuna's spot atop my micro stereo system amongst some NASCAR and Denver Broncos memorabilia which is actually kind of a strange mix."Shining Tears" is actually a bit of an old release and it came out about a couple of years ago and I find it interesting that this figure was just released 5 days ago in Japan and there is an American release which will be out in late November which is priced a bit lower. Why this ice sorceress is depicted as having lost some of her clothing is a mystery to me and I probably should purchase this game as I do love rpg's a lot. I've read a few mixed reviews about this game but I always find that the best judge of anything is yourself just as long as it's not deemed unanimously bad. Good or bad , I'll still find this figure to be an attractive piece.
